Good morning to our honorable lecturer, Ms. Uma, Time keeper,
Debaters and distinguished ladies and gentlemen. Being a fourth proposing
speaker for this debate, our topic for todays debate is Should street
demonstrations be stopped in every country? Absolutely yes. Does anyone
hear know what is street demonstration? It is a street protest known as
demonstration that takes action by a community to show their negative or
positive responsiveness about public issues. It generally involves walking in
mass rally formation and begins with a meeting at the designated endpoint. As
a proposer, I would say that it is undisputable demonstration as seen on the
televisions , social media, and other devices which can bring our negative or
positive acts. People might have seen public activities against corruptions,
ethics , financial crisis, discrimination on our mother nature, religions and other
problems that we encountered in this world.
My first point is street demonstration can put their life at risk. According
to Human Right Watch, doctors from eight hospitals reported that at least 302
people were killed in the unrest in Egypt since January 28, 2011. Next,
protestors might be arrested for custodies. Malaysia Insider reported some 388
protesters have been arrested at the Bersih 3.0 rally for election reforms.

Last but not least, street demonstration resulted in damaging of the public
property. Protestors would damage public and government properties such as
roads , footpaths and buildings.

From my point of view, the public should voice out their concerns and
opinions by organizing peaceful assemblies. For instance, a community standing
in a corner with banners showing their courtesy to the people and the world.
This is a form of peaceful protest with no signs of aggressions, violence and
weapons being used.
The alternative way of voicing out public concerns is legal protest. It
mostly distributes pamphlets, speeches, parades and marches. However, some
require permits but it is crucial to know the applicable law before you begins
the assembly .If you are unsure, it is always the best for you to apply for a
permit on the safer side.
