Santa To Arrive In Mount Olive

Via Fire Truck
S
anta Claus again has turned to the Flanders Fire and Rescue
Company to help him meet with good little boys and girls of
all ages in Flanders.
Firefighters will escort Santa around Flanders on their appa-
ratus starting around 10 a.m. Dec. 19, said Kevin Dolan, presi-
dent of the Flanders Firefighter’s Association.
“We look forward to this all year,” he said. “We know that
kids love Santa and they love fire trucks, so here’s a chance
for them to see both right at their home.”
Dolan said children will have to listen for the sirens on
the fire trucks as they carry Santa through each street in
Flanders, stopping to greet children and give them
candy canes.
“Usually, we ask you to move out of our way when
you hear our sirens,” Dolan said. “This is one of the
times we ask you to come to us when you hear us.”
In addition to giving, Santa also will be accepting
gifts for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for
Tots program. The Flanders Firehouse, 27 Main
St., is an official drop-off point for contributions
to the Toys for Tots program, but Santa will be
happy to pick up new and unwrapped toy dona-
tions for ages infant to 16 years old to add to the
collection.
“Just bring your contribution to Santa when
you hear him approach on the fire truck,” said
Dolan. “Toys can be left at the firehouse at any
time or hand-delivered any Thursday night.”
