From: Ali Khan Date: May 27, 2014 Re: 7 th Annual Sports Week
Mr Ahmad, Here is the report about the 7 th Annual Sports Week celebrated in CITT from 24 th to 28 th of May, 2014. The opening ceremony of this event took place in Jinnah auditorium where teacher, students and their parents were also present. All athletes, taking part in games, marched past the stage. After the march-past, sports week officially kicked off with the speech of Director, CITT. Cricket: Cricket teams of Electrical and Chemical departments faced each other in the first match of qualifying round. Electrical department chose to bat first and set a high target for Chemical department which could not make it, despite good efforts by their opener, Muhammad Ali, who scored a century. In second match of qualifying round, Computer Science department beat Math department after a tough match. Final match was played between Electrical and Computer Science Department. Team of Computer Science Department bowled first and restricted the opponent team to a small total. Batsmen of Computer Science team played well and finished the game with 6 over remaining.
Hockey: Hockey matches were also played between the same opponents as cricket matches. In the qualifying round, Chemical department beat Electrical department by 4 goals. In the second match, Computer Science department beat Math department by 1 goal after a nerve wrecking game. Final was won by Chemical Department.
2 Foot Ball: Foot ball was the last outdoor game played during the sports week. Only two departments, Chemical and Computer science took part in this event. Chemical department won the only match played in this category.
Indoor Games: Badminton and Table tennis were played in Jinnah auditorium. Badminton was won by the students of Math department and Computer Science department won the Table tennis final against Electrical department.
Prize Distribution: Prize distribution ceremony was held in Jinnah auditorium. Captains of winning teams were awarded with trophies. After the prize distribution, sports week ended with a farewell message from Director, CITT. Summary: The event was full of fun and energy. Many students took part in the games but could not participate fully due to the pressure of midterm exams ahead. I would suggest scheduling sports week early in the semester will encourage more participation by students as they are relaxed during that time. Also, presence in games should be mandatory for the students so they may take part in this healthy activity. More facilities should be provided to the athletes.
