to start a benefit for women and children
in shelters. The program is called He is
My Friend and they are a group of veter-

The items they make are donated to
women and children in local domestic vio-
lence shelters.
These crafts and items comfort the women
there with notes of encouragement like,
Be Strong, Hang in There, Never Give
Up, and Things are Going to Get Better.
The crafts made for the children bring
smiles and joy to their lives and help oc-
cupy their time at the shelter.

Caregiver Support Group
Recently we have been advised by the
TSA that they will not be granting any
funds for Caregiver support and educa-
tion programs, nor will they directly op-
erate support groups. Until we get this
resolved, I want to take the time and in-
vite the group to continue meeting
amongst each other. The Senior Center
will always be open and supportive, and
we are more than happy to offer the
space, and support the group.

pm to 2 pm. Memory games
help strengthen the mind.

What is your favorite memory
of the 60s? Everyone is in-
vited.
Message from Mayor Burcroff:

With the arrival of cooler weather, please
make sure you remain diligent with your
healthy living.
As the leaves are changing color and the temperature starts
dropping, we all have to remember to give our bodies and
minds a little extra attention to stay well. I encourage all of
our seniors to visit the Health Fair at the Senior Center on
Thursday, October 9th from 9:30am to 2:00pm. This is a
great opportunity to get some of your vitals checked as well
as learn some new, healthy tips. Also, dont forget you flu
shot there too.
It was great to see seniors in the decorated bus that partici-
pated in the Rotarys Parade of Lights. You represented our
city well and made us all proud. I am also happy to see the
increased trips to grocery stores each week. I know the clos-
ing of the Romulus Marketplace has been difficult for all
our residents, especially seniors. Please take advantage of
the transportation the Senior Center has arranged for visits
every week to Meijer and Walmart. As always, if there is
anything else I or my staff can do to assist you, please do
not hesitate to call or come in for a visit.

Monday !!
Attention seniors - Due to market
closing, we will be going shopping
every Monday of the month to make
sure that all seniors will be able to
get their groceries, medicine and all
their needs. We will make stops at
