Job Title: Marketing and Communications officer
Reports to: Academic Bursar
Scale: 6.26 24,210 Full time equivalent
Hours of work/FTE: 7 hours per week /40 weeks (actual salary 4129)
Employment Status: I year contract in first instance
(subject to 6 month probationary period)

Job Purpose: To provide strategic and operational management of the marketing
activities of the school with a focus on raising and promoting the
profile of the school in the borough and wider community.

This will involve:-
1. Working with the Academic Bursar to create a medium to long term marketing and
communications plan for the school
2. Planning, developing and creating a range of promotional materials to support the
marketing and communication activities of the school including, but not exclusively
prospectuses, brochures, advertisements, weekly newsletters and web site pages.
3. Monitoring and ensuring that the content and appearance of the school website is current
and appropriate, that links are tested regularly and, working with the website developer,
ensuring that any updates required are uploaded in a timely way.
4. Working to promote the use of the school website and any associated social media / on line
presence, by all stakeholders.
5. Managing the marketing budget for the school ensuring proper financial procedures are
followed for ordering and receiving goods.
6. Liaising and coordinating with colleagues to ensure that display materials across the school
are current , relevant and in keeping with the Christs brand and ethos.
7. Developing and leading a positive public relations strategy, e.g. with regular press releases
promoting the work and successes of the school. In particular leading positive PR campaigns
around key results days and developing good relationships with local journalists.
8. Leading and promoting events and developing the strategy for attracting new students into
year 7 and the school 6
th
form.
This job description forms part of the contract of employment but it is not intended to be a
comprehensive definition of the post nor does it define the amount of time to be spent on carrying
out the duties. It will additionally include any task which the Head Teacher or line manager may
reasonably require the post holder to complete as part of the role. It will be reviewed annually and
may be subject to modification or amendment after consultation. In addition the post holder will be
expected to follow all safeguarding procedures and requirements and all other policies as
appropriate including demonstrating discretion and loyalty to the school at all times.
