The temperature during first day of a week is 37 degree Celsius and that of during last day is 32 degree

Celsius. If the temperature of these two days are excluded, the average temperature of the remaining
days is 2 degree Celsius lesser than the average temperature of the week. What is the average
temperature of the week (in degree Celsius)?
ans=29.5
let average temp of week be x.
then average temp of remaining days =x-2.
now [37+32+5(x-2)]/7=x which gives 29.5.
45. There are 5 boxes in a cargo hold. The weight of the first box is 200 kg and the weight of the second
box is 20% higher than the weight of the third box, whose weight is 25% higher than the first box's
weight. The fourth box at 350 kg is 30% lighter than the fifth box. Find the difference in the average
weight of the four heaviest boxes and four lightest boxes.

now the weight of 1st box is 200kg,2nd box is 300 kg,3rd box is 250kg,4th box is 350kg,5th box is 455kg
then avereage of light weight boxes is 200+250+300+350=1100/4=275
average of heavy boxes is 455+350+300+250=1355/4=338.75
now diff is338.75-275=63.75 ans

ALTERNATE METHOD IS
take the maximum weight of the heavy box that is=455kg
minimum weight of the light weight box is=200kg
diff is 255/4=63.75 ans
population of city increases by 10 and 15 successively in two years.find the average annual percentage
increase in two years

starting population as 100.
when it increases,then it increement by 10.ans=110,then 10% of 100=10
Sequence-->it increements by 15.so 15% of 110=16.5
110+16.5=126.5
average=126.5-100=26.5
Q. Average age of students of an adult school is 40 years. 120 new students whose average age is 32
years joined the school. As a result the average age is decreased by 4 years. Find the number of students
of the school after joining of the new students:
Option
(a)1200
(b)120
(c)360
(d)240

Let's take intial avg is 40
intial total will be 40x
new avg is 36
then new total become 40x+120*32=36(x+120)
x=120
total students=120+120=240
so ans is 240
formula for dis type of ques :The average age of N persons is x years.If M person joins then,the average is
decreased by y years,then avg age of new comers is : x+{1+(N/M)}y years.
Here avg age f new comers=32
x=40
M=120 and y=4,we can find N from the formula n den add 120 for total students.
Q. A man whose bowling average is 12.4, takes 5 wickets for 26 runs and there by decreases his average
by 0.4. the number of wickets taken by him before his last match is?
Let the wickets claimed by him before the last match be x.
Total runs he had given = x X 12.4 = 12.4x
Number of wickets now taken by him = (x + 5)
12(x + 5) = 12.4x + 26
12x + 60 + 12.4x + 26
0.4x = 34
x = 340/4 = 85
Wickets taken by him before his last match = 85
.Fill dirt or till soil is usually the sub-soil removed from an excavation site and is used to level a place or
create artificial mounds. The average density is 2 gm cu cm of sub-soil removed from a site and if it
weighs 900 kg, how many hemispherical pits each of volume 140 cubic cm: can this sub-soil fill?

O 3214.00

O 3213.00

O 3215.00

O 1607.00
2gr/cm^3 so weight = 900 Kg (900000 gms)
:: Volume taken out is 45000 cm^3
Volume of hemisphere is 2/3pie*r^2 ... which here is 140cm^3
So, no. of hemispheres is 450000/140 = 3214.28 = 3214
Ans: A) 3214
A problem on triangles mostly geometry type.i had one in which 87 lines were given like a truss.First 3
formed a triangle and from next onwards every 2 formed a triangle.We had to find total number of
triangles.
43
first 3 lines form a triangle so
87-3=84
next 2 lines form a triangle so no of triangle=84/2
42
42+1=43
There was a triangle questions. There was a diagram of a triangle with multiple symmetric triangle inside
And they asked us how to many triangles there were in total
The rupee/coin changing machine at a bank has a flaw. It gives 10 ten rupee notes if you put a 100 rupee
note and 10 one rupee coins if you insert a 10 rupee note but gives 10 hundred rupee notes when you
put a one rupee coin!
Sivaji, after being ruined by his rivals in business is left with a one rupee coin and discovers the flaw in
the machine by accident. By using the machine repeatedly, which of the following amounts is a valid
amount that Sivaji can have when he gets tired and stops at some stage (assume that the machine has
an infinite supply of notes and coins):
A. 26975
B. 53947
C. 18980
D. 33966
nitially sivaji had only one coin so he earns only 1000/-
to earn more he must convert one 100 note to 10 notes and then one ten note to ten coins
now he has Rs.990 and 10 coins
after converting 10 coins he has 10990
after converting another 10 coins he has 20980
after converting another 10 coins he has 30970
after converting another 10 coins he has 40960
after converting another 10 coins he has 50950
after converting another 10 rupee note to coins and using only 3
he has seven coins and 53940
so sum is 53940+7=53947
Two equilateral triangle of side 12cm are placed one on top another, such a 6 pointed star is formed if
the six vertices lie on a circle what is the area of the circle not enclosed by the Star?
a)61
b)57
c)68
d)83
My answer: 68
two triangle will form 12 euqilateral triangle of side 4 cm
so area covered=12*((root 3/4)*4*4)=80.2
from bigger triangle we can calculate altitude i.e=6root3
from smaller triangle we can calculate altitude i.e=2root3
so diameter becomes 8root3 and hence radius=4root3
area of circle=pi*(4root3)sqr=150.2
unshaded area=150.2-82.08=68(approx)
The interior angle of a regular polygon is 156 . How many diagonals does the polygon have ?
(a)60
(b)90
(c)75
(d)120
ans is 90
interior angle formula=180*(n-2)/n
herein,156=180*(n-2)/n
we get n=15
number of diagnols=n*(n-3)/2=(15*12)/2=90
39. Two identical CIRCLES intersect so that their centres, and their points of which they intersect, form a
square of 1cm. Find the area (in sq.cm) of the portion which is common to the two circles.
area of sector= pi*r^2*angle/360 i.e 22*1^2*90/(7*360)= 11/14
sum of area of two sector= 11/14*2= 11/7
common area= (11/7-1)=4/7
area of sector (angle is 90 and radius is 1) = (pie*1^2)/4 = 3.14/4 = .785
area of small triangle sides( 1,1,root2) = .499 (herons formula)
difference = .286
total area = .286*2 = .572 ans
For a triangle, given length of one side=68 cm, second side= 32 cm. Area of the triangle= 960 sq. cm. Find
the exact value of third side?
We can solve it by Heron's formula. Here a=68 b=32 and c=? area is given 960
semi-perimeter s=(a+b+c)/3 and area T =sqrt[s*(s-a)*(s-b)*(s-c)]
modifying the formula for area we get
T = (1/4)*sqrt[4*a^2*b^2-(a^2 + b^2 - c^2)]-----eq1
solving eq1 by putting values of T(=960),a(=68),b(=32) we get
c=60cm
What is the ratio of the areas of a incircle and circumcircle of a square?
let side of square = x

diameter of incircle = x/2 => area of incircle = pi*(x/2)^2 = pi*(x^2/4)

dia of circumcircle = 2*x => area of circumcircle = pi*(2*x/2)^2 = pi*(x^2/2)

ratio = (area of incircle)/(area of circumcircle)= pi*(x^2/4) / pi*(x^2/2) =1:2

ans 1:2
A cuboidal ice-cream bar have a length, breadth and thickness of 3 cm,5 cm and 2 cm respectively.
Suppose both length and breadth decrease by the same percentage and the thickness remains the same.
As a result, volume is reduced by 19%. What is the now breath?
let x be percentage of decrease of length
[3-((x/100)*3)]*[5-((x/100)*5)]*2=[30-((19/100)*30)]
or x^2-200x=1900=0
therefore x=10,19
checking we get x=10
therefore breadth=[5-((10/100)*5)]=5-.5=4.5
