CHAKRA AWARENESS WITH HASTHA MUDRAS
Hastha Mudras or the hand gestures can be used to increase
awarenessoftheenergiesatthedifferentChakriclevels.
Sit inVajraAsanaor in thetoesturnedunder postureknownas
VajraVeeraAsana.
Stretch your arms upwards and join your palms together in the
Anjali Mudra. Thewholebackisgivenan
excellentstretchinthisposture.
TheentirePranamayaKoshaaswell asthe
Sahasrara Chakra and all the higher
Chakrasthat exist aboveit areenergized
bythisMudra.
Slowly bring your
hands down to
your head with
yo u r wr i st s
touching the top
of your head thus
forming a beautiful triangular frame for
yourface.
This is the Kailash Mudra that energizes
theSahasraraChakra.

When the hands are brought down from
theKailash Mudraand placed in front of
the forehead we can energize our Ajna
Chakra or centre of inner intuition. This
energizes our Pituitary Gland that is the
master conductor of our endocrine
orchestraandhelpsustoobtainexcellent
glandularhealth.
As we bring the
Namaskar Mudra
to the front of the
neck we can feel
the energeti c
vibrati ons that
recharge the
V i s h u d d h a
C h ak r a an d
normal i ze our
thyroidfunction.
When the Namaskar Mudra is brought
down to thechest region wecan feel the
healing energies flood through our
AnahataorheartChakra.
When practised in theproper manner, thissequenceof Mudras
helpsustorechargethepsychic batteryof our PranamayaKosha
andproduceshealthandwell beingatall levelsofourexistence.

Thesystemof meditationknownasYantra, basedonDrishti or a
fixed gaze and sacred geometric shapes known as Mandalas is
almostidentical inclassical YogaandTantra.
Mandalas are geometric Yantras or forms of Shakti embodied
withintheChakrasof thebody. EachcentrehasitsownMandala
which is also associated with the element of the Mahabhuta
associatedwiththecentre.
The Jnanendriyas and Karmendriyas of each centre are also
subservienttothepoweroftheMandala.
The symbols used for Mandala Dharana or Mandala Dhyana
differ slightlywiththesymbolsusedfor theChakrasthemselves,
andvaryaccordingtotheYogaorTantricschool ofinstruction.
The Mandala or Yantra can be used as a formof Dharana or
concentration alone without entering into the
meditative aspect as suggested in Laya and
Yoga.

the Water Symbol that is a
