As much as air is vital to our existence, exposure to air pollution have dangerous health effects. But we can still do something to protect it from getting even more polluted. With the simple steps we can follow in this presentation, we can help reduce the toxins emitted to our environment everyday, thereby protecting the air we breathe.

[verb] Did you know We take about 26,000 breaths each day.
While you can go almost a month without food
And your body can survive almost a week without water
you can only survive for three minutes without breathing. Did you know Its free. Its all around us. But we often take it for granted. Each of us inhale around 14,000 liters of air everyday. If this air contains pollutants, we inhale them into our bodies. They can affect our health. Did you know People who live in big cities have a lower life expectancy because of poor air quality. Babies born to mothers in areas with air pollution and dense traffic are more likely to have a low birth weight and smaller head circumference. WHO estimated that outdoor air pollution caused 3.7 million premature deaths globally in 2012. "Air pollution is not just a nuisance or the haze we see on the horizon. It's literally putting our health in danger."
Bonnie Holmes-Gen
Senior Policy Director ALA, California We need to keep the air free from pollution. Did you know YOU can do a lot of simple things to reduce the amount of air pollution! We can't control the air, but we can control what we put into it and protect ourselves. Here are a few things you can do at Conserve energy. 1 Turn off the lights when you leave the room. Turn off appliances which you arent using. RECYCLE 2 Paper Plastic Glass Bottles Cardboard Aluminum Cans Recycling conserves energy and reduces production emissions. Plant deciduous trees in locations around your home. 3 Trees add oxygen and break down some pollutants. They are natural heat controllers. They provide shade in the summer... and allow sunlight in the winter. Choose not to smoke especially if you have children. 4 Theres no inhalant thats worse than smoke. Avoid wood-burning fireplaces. 5 Use energy-efficient appliances. 6 Dont burn leaves. Compost instead. 7 Here are also some ideas you can follow if you have a Keep tires properly inflated. 1 This alone can save up to 10% of your fuel consumption. Drive the speed limit. 2 Driving faster than 55 m.p.h. reduces your fuel efficiency and increases the pollution your car emits. Avoid waiting in long drive-thru lines. 3 Park your car and go in. Consolidate trips. Plan your travel and errands to reduce mileage. 4 You not only reduce the number of miles you also save additional gas by not having to fire-up a cold engine for every trip. A cold engine consumes about 20% more fuel ...and emits more VOCs than a warm one. Keep your car tuned and well- maintained. 5 A tuned car increases gas mileage and decreases your emissions.
Proper maintenance can increase your cars life. Avoid jackrabbit starts and sudden stops. 6 You can save as much as two miles per gallon by accelerating gently and anticipating the need to slow down or stop. Turn off your engine when you stop your car for a short time. 7 An idling engine burns 1/4 to 1/2 gallon of gas per hour. It takes less energy to restart your car than to idle for one minute. Report polluting vehicles to your local air agency. 8 When youre not in a hurry, choose to walk or ride a bike. 9 These are but simple actions you can take to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. But with these small steps you can Save money. Reduce air pollution. And protect the climate. Small steps add up, if we all do our part. After all Who doesnt love being outside and breathing fresh air? This is the air we breathe. Lets protect it! Presentation Design by:
