Two way traffic soon

A Burlington Northern Santa Fe

Railroad (BNSF) westbound oil
train leaves Berthold, North Dakota,
20 miles west of Minot. Notice the
double tracks in this photo? The train
is rolling on the original main line
while the other is a new main line
under construction, meaning it will
be double main line all the way from
Minot to Williston very shortly, which
will relieve some of the rail congestion
in this region created by the Bakken
Boom. At right is two BNSF trains
appeared for a head-on collision
in Nashua, only to go whistling by
each other as theres two sets of
tracks through Porkie country. Good
thing for the Nashua community,
the construction of an overpass
by the Montana Department of
Transportation is in the works as train
congestion increases.

Cady, age 51, currently a Billings Police Lieutenant,
announced a couple of weeks ago his write-in campaign
for Yellowstone County Sheriff.
Cady was hit and seriously injured by a drunken
driver in 1992 and was told at the time he was no longer
able to do police work.
During his Friday, September 26, announcement
of his candidacy he tested a campaign slogan in front
of a crowd of 40, which appears to be the best one in
not only this election cycle but of many in the past of
local, state and federal candidates: Dont write me

The topic of domestic violence has sprung to the
forefront of American pop culture in recent weeks as a
result of the Ray Rice video.
Unfortunately, when the outrage of the American
public fades and the public service announcements stop,
25% of all women will still experience domestic violence
in their lifetime (CDC). Because 74% of all Americans
personally know someone who is or has been a victim of
domestic violence, we are obviously whispering about it
(Allstate Foundation National Poll on Domestic Violence,
2006). We need to do more than whisper. We need to
see domestic violence for what it is violence.and it is
NEVER okay.

Humans tend to gravitate to what is familiar even
if that familiarity is abuse. We have a responsibility to
each generation to teach our young men and young
women what a healthy relationship looks like. Anger
should be discussed, and not expressed with violent words
or actions. Unfortunately, 50% of men who frequently
assault their wives also frequently abuse their children
(evefoundation.org). Furthermore, studies suggest that
between 3.3 and 10 million children witness some form of
domestic violence annually (evenfoundation.org). These
statistics are startling and it could be argued that up to 10
million children are being set up to become either victims
or perpetrators of domestic violence. Domestic violence is
a cycle we can break.
Domestic violence tends to be a silent crime. Only
about 55% of all incidents of domestic violence are
reported (CDC). Its a crime of shame and guilt. Men
and women who are victims of domestic violence are
embarrassed and ashamed by their abuse. They protect
their abuser and blame themselves for causing the abuse.
The abuser is often extremely remorseful and promises
to never do it again until the next time. Unfortunately,
more than 3 women and 1 man are loved to death by
their intimate partners in this country every day (Bureau
of Justice Statistics). Abuse is NEVER about love. Abuse
is about power and control.
As the football season wears on and we get caught
up with the hype of tailgating, team rivalries and office
pools, lets not forget that for one moment as a nation of
fans and athletes, regardless of color or tax bracket, we
came together and said collectively, WE WILL NOT
TOLERATE VIOLENCE IN OUR HOUSE!

If you or someone you know is the victim of domestic
violence or for more information call The Domestic Abuse
Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or go to the website
www.thehotline.org . Its time to be silent no more.

Opheims very own Garfield!

Opheim High School has added another student to their

roster. She is Karatphet Sae-Tung or Garfield as she likes
to be called.
Garfield is an exchange student from Hatyai, Thailand and
is living with Dewey and Terri Tarver at the Opheim Border
Station housing. She is a 16 year old junior who has one
older brother.
Garfield speaks English, Thai and some Chinese. Her
favorite subject is Math and her favorite sports are swimming
and badminton. She is now
playing volleyball on the
Viking team and says she
likes it.
Her former school has 5,000
students, a bit (or much)
bigger than Opheim. Her
favorite pastime is playing
the piano and the ukulele and
she likes to sing. She will be
playing drums and bells in the
Opheim band.

Question: What do you call a chicken coop with 4
doors?

Answer: A chicken sedan.

This handsome young guy pulled into the crowded
parking lot at the local shopping center and rolled down
the car windows to make sure his Labrador Retriever
Pup had fresh air. She was stretched full-out on the back
seat and he wanted to impress upon her that she must
remain there.

He walked to the curb backward, pointing his finger
at the car and saying emphatically, Now you stay. Do
you hear me? Stay! Stay!
The driver of a nearby car, a pretty young blonde,
gave the feollow a strange look and said, Why dont you

In the maternity ward of a hospital, new-born girl
baby looks over at new-born boy baby and asks, Are
you a girl baby or a boy baby?

The boy baby quickly chirps up, Im a boy baby!

How can you tell? asks girl baby.
Easy, says boy baby. And, with that, he threw off
the blankets, hoisted up his itty-bitty night-shirt and
proudly pointed downward. See.....blue booties!
A monocle walks into a bar. After a few drinks the
monocle starts to feel pretty good. He reaches for a
cigarette, but the bartender stops him. Sorry, buddy,
but due to city ordinances we dont allow smoking in
here. Youll have to step outside to smoke.
So the monocle hops off the barstool and grabs his
cigarettes to head outside. Meanwhile a second monocle
emerges from the bathroom. They bump into each
other as they cross paths and fall to the floor, hopelessly
entangled. They try to get free but the more they struggle,
the more tangled they become.
The bartender looks down on this travesty and
shakes his head. Hey you two! he shouts. Stop making
spectacles of yourselves!
