Under two presidents, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and
Daniel Arap Moi, there has been stability and
^ace since independence in the fifties. There
IS a strong bond with the United States. Presi-
dent Moi IS a member of the African Inland Church
and sets the pace of supporting church &missions.
^ Pokats are one of the poorest and most primi-
tive tribes in Kenya. Because the area was a
part of Uganda, it has been unevangelized and
remains unreached by western progress that is
spreading through the rest of Kenya. These people
are anmists, numbering 200,000. They have his-
storically survived largely with rreager farming
and goat and cattle herding.
