A.PRINCIPALRULES
TheInternationalMariaCallasGrandPrixinOperaisopentosingersofallnationalities:

A1. An application form, properly filled out, must be sent by registered airmail to the
SecretariatoftheMariaCallasGrandPrix,thelatestbyMay25,2014.TheSecretariatof

A2.Applicationsmustbeaccompaniedby:

b)Curriculumvitae.
c) Detailed information on the musical studies of the applicant (schools attended,
seminars, diplomas etc.,) as well as names of the applicant's music professors in
particularduringthelasttwoyears.
d)Prizeswonatinternationalcompetitions(ifany)
e)Twolettersofrecommendationbymusiciansofinternationalstanding
f)RecentDVD(HD)withyourperformance.
g)Repertoire(CyclesofSongs,Oratorios,Operasetc.).
h)Theoverallartisticactivityoftheapplicantuntiltoday.
i)Programsandreviews.
j)Listoftheapplicant'sLPs,CDsoranyotherrecordings,ifthereareany.
k)Tworecentphotographs,size9x12cm(original,jpegorpdf,inhighresolutionatleast
300dpi).
l)Aphotocopyoftheirpassportor anyotherofficialdocumentasaproofoftheirdate
ofbirth.

A3. The Direction of the competition will provide foreign candidates with a formal
certificateofparticipation,whichmaybeusedfortheissuanceofavisa.

A4. Singers accepted to participate in the Maria Callas Grand Prix must report at the
Secretariatofthecompetitiontwothreedaysbeforethebeginningofthecompetition

A5.ParticipantsmustsendbyMay25,2014,thelatest,
a)Theirprogrambystages(thetitleandtheactofariasintendedtobeperformedinall
stageswouldbepreciselynamed).
b) Outline the titles, composer and the edition of the works to be presented with
Orchestra.
N.B.Participantswhowillnotfollowtherequestsofparagraphsaandbregretfullywill
notbeacceptedtotheGrandPrix.

A6. All stages of the "International Maria Callas Grand Prix" can be recorded and
transmittedthroughradioor/andtelevision.Eachcandidate,provideshis/hernecessary
acceptance to the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation and the Athenaeum International
CulturalCenterirrevocableandwithoutanyclaimforrewordfeefortherealizationof
abovementionedrecordingsandradioand/ortelevisiontransmissions,aswellasforthe
reproduction and circulation of any audio or visual material of such recordings for
educational,archival,orformuseumpurposesthroughthedepositionofhis/herbulletin
ofattendance.

A7.SingersacceptedtoparticipateinthecompetitionmustnotifytheSecretariatofthe
exact date of their arrival at least four weeks before the beginning of the Grand Prix.
OtherwisetheSecretariatcannotensureanyaccommodation.

A8.SingerswhohavebeenacceptedbutareunabletoparticipateintheMARIACALLAS
GRANDPRIXarekindlyrequestedtonotifytheSecretariatwithinareasonabletime.

A9. The Direction of the competition will not accept any changes in the program after
May25,2014.

B.ACCOMMODATION
B1.Freemealswillbeofferedtoallparticipantsandtheiraccompanistsatthepremises
ofATHENAEUM,irrelevanttotheirsuccess.

B2.Freehotelaccommodationwillbeofferedonlytothosesingerswhowillsuccessfully
passatleastintothe2
nd
stageoftheGrandPrix.

C.EXECUTIONOFTHEMARIACALLASGRANDPRIXOPERA
C1. The Grand Prix consists of three stages. The sequence of the participants
appearancewillbeinalphabeticalorder,thisyearstartingfromtheletterE.

C2.Participantsmustspecifyontheirapplicationformthetypeoftheirvoice(soprano,
mezzosopranoe.t.c.)

C3.Allworksshouldbeperformedintheiroriginallanguageandkey.Thesoleexception
to this rule will be those works which have been transposed into another key in
internationallyknowneditions.

C4.Allworksshouldbesungbyheart.
C5. Composers not included in the competitions program requirements cannot be
selectedbytheparticipants.

C6. Singers, who will not succeed to pass in the 2

nd
cycle, are entitled to ask the
President and the members of the Jury Committee for their advice and counselling on
theirperformance.

C7.ThedecisionoftheJuryCommitteeisirrevocable.

Mozart, Ponchielli, Puccini, Rossini, SaintSans, R. Strauss, Thomas,
Tchaikovsky,Verdi,WagnerandWeber.

GroupC Lieder by: Beethoven, Brahms, Debussy, De Falla, Duparc, Dvok,

Faur, Granados, Grieg, Mahler, Mussorgsky, Rachmaninoff, Ravel,
Respighi,Schubert,Schumann,R.Strauss,TchaikovskyandWolf.

and other persons involved in music and having interest to promote the careers of the
younglaureatesoftheMariaCallasGrandPrix.

F.PRACTICEANDACCOMPANISTS
TheDirectionofthecompetitionwillarrangefortheparticipantsthefollowing:

F2.Onehour'sdurationrehearsalpriortothe1

stages.Participantswishingto
have more than two rehearsals will have to undertake financially the accompanist's
engagement.

F3. Participants may be escorted by their own accompanist, for whom the
administration of the competition will not undertake any financial or other obligation
(fee,accommodationetc)expectthedailymeals.
