English is taught as a compulsory subject right from Class V in our Secondary Level.
There is, however, a steady decline in the standard of English teaching and learning in
our schools and colleges. A glance of the result of any final examination is a proof of
this. Our experience as teachers of English are also disappointing to a great extent. The
organizers intend to provide a forum for interaction and exchange of views from the
participants and learned house with a view to drawing a few conclusions as remedial
measures with the help of the main theme or any of the sub-themes stated here.

Sub-Themes:
a) On Grammar and Language (Should Grammar be taught in isolation from the text).
b) Techniques of Teaching Prose / poetry / short story / composition in Secondary Level.
