means not only that our students
perform well academically, but also
that they are closely supported
in both the decision-making and

suitable for their goals, their aptitudes,
and their interests. This way, their
university experience is guaranteed
to be as enriching as it is successful.
Here, some of our most recent

Ping Hei Cheng (Jacky) from
Hong Kong studied A-levels
at Kings before beginning a
degree in Medicine at Queens
University, Belfast.
Why did you choose this course?
Being a doctor has always been meaningful for me
they save lives, they diagnose disease and ofer
treatments to patients, helping them to get back to
living healthy lives.
Why did you choose this university?
Its one of the most recognised universities in the UK,
and it is one of the 15 most beautiful universities in the
world! Thats why I chose Queens University Belfast.
How did Kings help you get here?
When I was applying for university they asked me to
submit a personal statement, explaining what I
wanted to study. The teachers at Kings helped me
they gave me ideas when I was struggling and helped
me correct my mistakes afer Id fnished writing it.
They also helped me to call the universities and ask
for decisions when I was waiting for ofers.
What was it like getting your A-level results?
I got two A-stars and two As at Alevel. They were
A-stars in Maths, Chemistry and As in Physics and
Biology. I got the ofer very late it was right before
the start of the holidays. I was really excited when I
got the ofer from this university because it meant I
can fnally become a doctor and do what I want to do.
Whats it like to be a UK university student?
Even though Im an international student from Hong
Kong, I think everyone knows that medical school is
tough I have at least 4 hours of lectures a day. I dont
get many holidays but Im enjoying university life
because Im studying what I want to study.
What are your plans afer university?
Afer 5 years of medical school Ill be training in a
hospital as a junior doctor and then afer 2 years
training I can become a fully qualifed doctor. Then I
may specialise, but I havent thought about this yet.
What would you say to a student thinking of coming
to the UK and considering Kings?
I think they should follow my path going to
Kings and getting help from all the teachers and
staf there, and then getting in to the university
they want to go to.
Specialist support
for medical degree
applications
Gaining a place to follow a Medicine course at
undergraduate level in the UK is very demanding
with 8000 applicants for only 600 international
places.
Applicants must take a specialist medical Ability Test
and achieve a very high score.
At Kings we provide specialist support for students
wishing to follow this path.
We will develop your skills and experience in taking
the Ability Tests and will ensure you have a
dedicated Senior Mentor to support you through the
application process. We also guide your early
research procedures to help you choose the most
suitable medical school and will support you in your
visits to medical schools.
At university you have to manage your time very
well, and no one will remind you what to study
and when to study you have to be independent.
But thanks to Kings, I was prepared for that.
Since I was a young age I was interested in
biology and chemistry, and Medicine provides me
with this chance. Im also interested in cancer biology
and regenerative Medicine, and this course in Bristol
provides me with the chance to study and learn
these things.
The best thing about studying at Kings is the
free and friendly atmosphere. We students really
made great friendships with each other and with
the teachers. I am still in regular contact with
some friends from Kings.

Yuxi Yao (Cici) from China took
A-levels at Kings before winning
a place to study Engineering at
the University of Oxford.
Can you describe some of the ways that Kings
helped you get here?
I think for the application to university Kings can
give very personal advice and support as long as
you ask for it... They know what you need and provide
you with lots of help. For example, they help you with
your subjects, with your UCAS applications, with
your English.
Whats university in the UK like?
The course is very intense in Oxford, but Im amazed
by the unlimited resources given by the university. So
long as we want to learn, and have the capacity, we
can make progress. Although it feels quite intense, me
and my friends have found out that we have huge
potential and can always do better thats a process
of confdence building I think.
Would you recommend that your friends
choose Kings?
Yes, thats a defnite yes. Kings provided me with a
very nice starting point for my life in the UK and I
enjoyed it. I got to know the subjects I was interested
in better before I started at university. Kings is an
international college and I really enjoyed the
international atmosphere with friends from diferent
countries. I liked to talk to my tutors, they were so
lovely. More importantly, I made life-long friends.
Specialist support for
Oxbridge applications
Students aiming for the elite universities in the UK,
including Oxford and Cambridge, need more than
simply strong academic ability. They also need
broad intellectual skills, sophisticated cultural
and social awareness plus familiarity with the
interview process.
Our specialist Oxbridge guidance provides practical
advice, interview practice, and sessions to develop
deeper cultural and intellectual awareness.
Kings was the start point of everything, it was
actually what gave me the strength for university.
Id like to say a big thank you to every single teacher
at Kings. They took care of us like parents take care
of their children. It was incredible work, they helped
us with every aspect, and even helped us to shape
our personality, which was really great for a person
who is changing from a teenager to an adult.

Counselling
At Kings, we understand that choosing the right UK
university is one of the most important decisions in
life. For this reason, we ensure that our students only
make this decision when they are properly equipped
to do so. Its a complex process which needs careful
thought, planning, and guidance from expert
university counsellors.
Kristina Urosova, pictured here, is currently studying
a Computer Science degree course at Kings College
London, and explains her experience of university
counselling at Kings London:
Kings is great in terms of supporting university
applications. Your university advisor will look at your
application with you and help you establish your best
points, to include what the universities will find
interesting about you. They understand what the
universities want from you, and also what universities
will be best for you.
Kings helped me to write a great statement and its
one of the reasons I was able to come here to Imperial.
The teachers at Kings taught me so much about
mathematics and they helped me to really prepare for
the university interview. I learned a lot from Kings.

Kings prepared me for university life through a wide range
of assignments that were at the same level as those at university.
It ofered everything that my university needed (to award me a place)
and has a good teaching team. Kings treats its students in a way that
makes them feel that they always belong to this school, even after
finishing their courses.
It was so friendly and familiar at Kings; nice to meet diferent people
from all the nations, and the teachers were like parents, like friends it was
so nice. It was almost like a one-to-one tutorial with small groups at Kings,
so I could focus more on studying.
Kings helped me a lot to get to this university. They pushed me a
lot and helped me to get great results, and to have a great experience
I made a lot of friends. They also taught me things I needed to know for
university. Im studying management because I hope to have a chance
to meet people, to gain a lot of information and to get a job.

Maria Sakovich from Russia
studied the Advanced Level
Foundation before starting a
degree in Management with
International Business at Royal
Holloway, University of London.
Why are you studying this course?
Actually my parents advised me that Management
would be really good as youd learn basic skills that
you can use everywhere.
How did Kings help you get here?
Kings helped me a lot. First of all they were preparing
us for uni by helping us with the UCAS forms, and
checking our personal statements, maybe 4 or 5
times. They also arranged university fairs for us,
which was really helpful in deciding which uni we
wanted to go to.
On my course, we did work and assignments which
have really helped me here at university as we have
30% of coursework assignments. Also they helped us
with presentations, which we have a lot of on my
course. In all my presentations Ive got above 85%, I
think because Kings helped prepare me so much!
Whats it like now youre at university?
University is fun, but tough. Of course, you have to be
responsible, but Im a fresher so we party everyday!
And I like universities in the UK, I like how theyre
structured and I like how they are organised, and the
style of teaching too its diferent to my country and
I enjoy being here.
Whats the social life like?
There are lots of diferent people from diferent
countries. I have friends from all over the world and
am learning about their culture. I really enjoy the
societies here too, there are lots at Royal Holloway
and I have joined some.
What are your plans afer university?
Im planning to do event management, like organising
fashion shows or parties. I hope one day youll see me
organising some really famous fashion show!
Would you recommend university in the UK?
I think everyone should try this because I dont
regret it at all. I love it, I love England, I love the
universities here, and the people here are really nice.
Kings Enterprise
training the leaders
of tomorrow
Kings Enterprise is a great opportunity for school-age
students to learn what it is like to run their own
business.
Students have the opportunity to form their own
company selling real products and services, issue
shares and appoint people to key functions.
All of this give prospective Business students the
chance to learn the practical side of commerce, and
to bolster their university application with hands-on
experience.

Universities shown in order of ranking according to 2015 Times Good University Guide
The course Im studying at Royal Holloway is really
successful and Im enjoying it. Id say thank you Kings
for helping me through this and I stay in touch with
most of the staf and the friends I made there.
I was so happy when I got my results at Kings.
Queen Mary University is a top-fve ranked
university for Computer Science, which is exactly
what I wanted. I learned to deal with the high
pressures of university studies at Kings and now
Im more focused and motivated.
At university you have to manage your time very
well, and no one will remind you what to study
and when to study you have to be independent.
But thanks to Kings, I was prepared for that.

The teaching at Kings is very supportive and
helpful. The entire staf is always there to give you
advice and to help you not just with the subjects, but
they make you feel better in every occasion, too.
My agent said they think Kings have a very good
system of educating people. Class sizes are quite
small at Kings, so there is enough chance to interact
with teachers. I prefer small class sizes so I can talk
individually with teachers.
We had some help about UCAS and about the
universities from Kings. When I asked the teachers
I got some advice and insights into what they
thought I was able to do. The course is pretty good
in helping you prepare for university level study.
Kings is my favourite place Ive ever been to! It was
so friendly and familiar; nice to meet diferent
people from all the nations, and the teachers were
like parents, like friends.

Studying with Kings helped me to become much
more mature and more confident. Ive learnt a lot of
skills from the wonderful teachers and Ive made a lot
of new friends. And its just amazing to study at a
British university now.
Kings is the exact atmosphere and environment
that an international student needs to be in. I did my
pre-foundation year at the age of 16 (quite young to
be alone), yet everything was easier thanks the whole
staf and situation at Kings.
Nottingham is a great city
for studying, because Ive met
people from all around the world
here, the teachers are nice and
they are really supportive. Im
studying international relations
and European Studies, which is
really interesting.

Learning key skills
for university
One of the key challenges for students, both domestic
and international, who move from secondary level
study to university is adapting to new norms of
learning and study.
At Kings, we work hard to prepare every student in
essential skills for university, including how to write
essays and assignments and how to prepare and
conduct presentations.
Aimzhan Iztayeva from Kazakhstan is studying
Politics with Economics at the University of Bath.
She shared her thoughts on her Kings experience of
preparing for university:
When you have to write ten assignments 3000
words each, you feel really good when at the
University you are asked for a 1500 or 2000 word
essay. Furthermore, I can easily deal with
presentations since I was taught all the hints and
tricks. After a year at Kings you know how to write a
proper essay, make your arguments and support
them with the data, critically discuss the topic and
build your ideas into a coherent academic piece of
writing. And finally, you know what reference is and
when and how to use it, how to create bibliography
and how plagiarism is wrong. All this incredibly helps
me now.

I think Kings was able to help me in lots of ways.
For example, in my course I need to write a lot of
essays, and last year I had many assessments in
Politics and Economics and Geography, and that
helped me a lot. I know how to write an essay in
an English style, and how to reference things. I see
other international students struggle a bit with that,
but for me its easier thanks to Kings.
Kings not only provides international students
with a critical awareness of the contemporary issues
in academic study, it also helps to establish personal
and professional skills needed for future success.
A very friendly and supportive environment at
Kings provided me with an essential knowledge
and foundations for successful university studies.

Cultural Enrichment
Programme
At Kings, we ensure that both inside and outside the
classroom you will be totally immersed in an
exciting, interactive learning environment. It will
keep you busy and help you develop new skills. This
is because we know that successful students are the
ones who make the most of their time in and out of
the classroom and can demonstrate to universities
that they are well-rounded candidates with broad
interests.
Ya Gan studied A-levels at Kings Oxford, and
volunteered in a local charity shop during her
studies. Speaking about her experience, she
commented,
I work in a local charity bookshop, Oxfam, and the
manager there was a student at Oxford University
and has introduced us to the university. This
weekend, he took us to the Oxford University Union
its really good to be able to know these kind of
people as you can learn a lot from them.
When I was doing my A-levels at Kings,
my teachers always encouraged me to
think critically about what I was studying.
They always pushed me out of my comfort
zone and introduced me to a variety of
diferent viewpoints.
University is good, I like it. what Im
enjoying most is the feeling that I can
apply what Ive learnt from the lecture
to my daily life. They are to some extent
inter-related.

Managing the
transition to UK life
An international student has so much to contend with
before they even set foot inside a classroom the
language, culture, and social environment are all new.
At Kings, we place huge emphasis on managing this
transition to a new way of living and learning. The
sooner a student is settled, the sooner they are able to
succeed academically.
Dana Kanibolotska who is currently studying
International Hospitality Management at Oxford
Brookes University commented,
Kings changed me from a little girl to a sensible
student and that helped me to avoid the stress of
entering a university environment. I really miss the
atmosphere at Kings and family that we became
during that time. Every member paid a lot of attention
to us, and teachers were not just subject tutors, but
people we could ask about everything, they helped
and worried about us for the whole time.
Direct progression to
tourism and hospitality
degree programs
The Foundation and Diploma courses at Kings have
the beneft of ofering guaranteed progression to
some of the most renowned tourism and hospitality
degree programmes in Europe.
Bournemouth University, Oxford Brookes
University, the University of Surrey and Glion
Institute of Higher Learning all feature in the list of
progression partners.
I would strongly
recommend Kings. Kings
gave me a lot of help with
my personal statement
and my IELTS improved
from 4.5 to 6.5.
The smaller environment
at Kings is the best
preparation for university-
level studies.
My time at Kings was precious and it helped
me a lot both as a student and as a person. First
of all, the teachers I had during my two years were
incredible. In terms of study skills, my language
improved massively. But most of all I learned how
to write using appropriate academic language,
how to take notes and the best study methods.

University open days
and fairs
Alongside the university counselling service that we
ofer at Kings, we also help and encourage students to
attend open days at prospective universities. This
way, we can be sure that each student knows exactly
what to expect from their chosen university, and can
be confdent that it suits their requirements in terms
of size, location, and amenities. It also gives them
the opportunity to speak to course tutors and get a
more in-depth insight into what their degree course
will entail.
Mariana Peloso Do Nascimento, currently studying
Film Production at the University for the Creative Arts
found this particularly helpful:
There are lots of universities to choose from and it
can be quite overwhelming! I applied for the
University of Kent and I went there for the open day
I realised that the uni is great its a really good
university but for me, the course wasnt what I
wanted. In that sense, it was really useful to go to
open days.
The Advanced Level Foundation is the best
choice for university preparation. The entire course
itself is based on the UK university standard, with
lectures and almost three thousand word assignments.

We have sent thousands of students to leading universities
around the UK. These institutions consistently applaud the
quality of the students we send to them. Here is what a few
of the universities have to say about Kings students.
WHAT THE
UNIVERSITIES SAY
Kings is one of the leading providers of university
preparation courses for international students in the UK.
We have independently inspected the programme syllabus
and assessment procedures.
Universityof Aberdeen
We have been admitting students from courses at Kings
colleges on to our undergraduate programmes for a number
of years now, and we are always impressed with the quality
of these students, their academic commitment and discipline,
and the maturity that they bring to our student body
Oxford Brookes University
We have found Kings A-Level and Foundation students to be
articulate, motivated and well prepared for study at university
level. We have been delighted with their progress and
enthusiasm.
Universityof Kent
We have been working with Kings Colleges for a while and
each year, some of their best students come to the University
of Bath to study. Kings can be an excellent basis for ambitious
students wanting to secure a good university degree. Kings
students are particularly keen on the work experience they
can gain through our well-known placement scheme.
Universityof Bath
We are consistently impressed by the academic calibre
of Kings students who seem to be well prepared prior to
commencing their studies at Queen Mary University of
London.
Queen Mary, Universityof London
I have always been extremely impressed by the quality
of students, the professionalism of the Kings staf and the
wonderful commitment that is shown to their students.
Newcastle University
We are very impressed with the standard of the students
coming to us from Kings. They are typically highly capable,
well-prepared students who are familiar with the required
academic skills and have very good English language ability.
They settle into their studies at BU very quickly and engage
well with their tutors and fellow students from the start.
Bournemouth University
Kings students prove to be of a very high standard and
are well prepared for their university studies. We are always
happy to meet with the students on Kings pre-university
programmes during our visits to the college.
Aston University
We have been delighted with the students who have come
to us through Kings. Each has immersed themselves in all
aspects of University life and came well prepared for the
academic rigours involved.
