A pregnancy test is performed 94+9: days after the insemination. In-itro Fertili!ation (IF) and Intra-"ytoplasmi# Sperm In$e#tion (I"SI) In the I;F process, sperm is used to fertili5e eggs from the woman in a lab. ,he treatment is recommended to women with irreparably damaged fallopian tubes, bloced fallopian tubes, severe endometriosis, ovulatory problems, unexplained infertility and severe sperm disorders. !uring the treatment, high dose gonadotropin ($n"1) doses are in4ected to encourage several follicles (eggs) to grow and their maturation progress is monitored with a series of ultrasound scans. &hen these follicles are sufficiently developed, they are removed from the ovaries. 0nder direct help of ultrasound, a needle is inserted through the vagina and into the ovary to recover the follicles. ,hese are combined with healthy sperm in the lab to see if they become fertili5ed. Intracytoplasmic sperm in4ection (I'*I) is almost identical to I;F method except that a single sperm is in4ected directly into each individual egg to increase the chances of successful fertili5ation. In case of low <uality sperm, I'*I can be a good option. Also, it can be used alone or in combination with I;F. After a few days, one or two fertili5ed eggs (embryos) are placed in the woman's uterus through her vagina.
