Management Server Specifications
Management Server
The EMC Data Management Team uses the Symcli/ECC agent (Gatekeeper Server) for ECC to
communicate to the VMAX arrays. This server is also used for SYMCLI/Solutions Enabler commands.
Communication to the array is through the SAN
One management server will manage up to two VMAX arrays
Server Specifications are:
Following are the machine requirements for running UNIVMAX:
Memory: 32GB
CPUs: two (2) processors, 1.8GHz minimum
Disk space: 160GB, assuming that all log settings are left at factory defaults
Windows 64-bit operating system (2008 R2 recommended)
2 physical HBA SAN connectivity to the Symmetrix arrays
8 Gatekeepers (requires RDMs if the machine is a VM)
These requirements are the same whether the machine is a VMware virtual machine or a physical
server.

UNIVMAX Server
The EMC Data Management Team uses the UNIVMAX server (SPA Server) for basic storage allocations,
troubleshooting, and overall array management. Communication to the array is through the SAN
One UNIVMAX server will manage up to two VMAX arrays
Server Specifications are:
Following are the machine requirements for running UNIVMAX:
Memory: 32GB
CPUs: two (2) processors, 1.8GHz minimum
Disk space: 160GB, assuming that all log settings are left at factory defaults
Windows 64-bit operating system (2008 R2 recommended)
