Reflection

I have done Listening and Speaking last week and Reading and Writing today for two periods. Initially, I planned to use the
same teaching materials that I used the day before to teach them reading and writing. I used the instruction cards and pasted it on the
board and asked the pupils to read the steps in sequence. At the same time, I corrected their mispronunciation. Then, I asked them to
copy the steps in their exercise book. Todays lesson meets the objectives, however classroom was out of control at most of the time.
As I have one hour lesson to be carried out, I finished my activity earlier than what was planned. Thus, whenever there were gaps
between activities or during the activity, the pupils were wandering about the classroom and some of them were off-task. I kept
repeating my instructions and classroom rules. Overall, if the same thing were to happen in my future lesson, it might be a serious
danger or problem. A good teacher is a good manager of a classroom.

Having said that they are year 1 children, their attention span is shorter. Thus, I realized that good pacing and transition of the
activity is needed in my lesson. Activities must be able to make them engage to the lesson, as well as must be interesting. In my case, I
do not think group work is the best way because it makes them carry away from the given task, unless I have found a way to take
control of their disruptive behavior.
