NEBOSH
Suitable for:
This course is designed for workers in any sector who want a basic understanding of health and safety
and acts as the perfect introduction to a NEBOSH Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Health and
Safety.
Course Content:
NEBOSH Award in Workplace Health & Safety course is a good introduction to the NEBOSH International General
Certificate course. It is intended for companies or individuals working to international Health & Safety standards. It
provides individuals with a broad overview on health, safety & environmental topics.
The syllabus is divided into 2 units: HSW1 Workplace safety foundations; and HSW2 Workplace Risk Assessment activity.
There are 10 elements in Unit HSW1 which covers a range of workplace hazards and methods of controls; as follows:
1. Foundations of health & safety
2. Responsibility for health and safety
3. Health & safety risk assessment and control
4. Hazards and control associated with work equipment
5. Transport safety
6. Hazards and controls associated with working electricity
7. Fire safety
8. Hazards and controls associated with manual handling and repetitive movement
9. Hazards and controls associated with hazardous substances
10. Hazards and controls associated with working environment
The second unit HSW2 Risk Assessment Practical Application is aimed at assessing a candidates ability to
conduct a general risk assessment. The risk assessment will be conducted at the candidates own workplace.
Course duration and assessment:
The training is spread over 3 days plus a 45 minutes multiple choice exam and a two hour Risk Assessment
Practical Application.
Participants must achieve the minimum pass standard in the examination and assessment to receive a qualification
parchment.
