From the Pastor

My dear People,

Were approaching the end of the year. Its been six
months since Ive retired from being administratively
responsible for our church. There have been a few
rough spots, but were still on track pressing toward
the high calling of our Lord. Of course, we cant make
any claims to being perfect as a church. This side of
eternity there are no groups of people who can claim
that theyve attained perfection. A church is always a
fellowship of those being saved.

While our Lord had words of condemnation for the
Pharisees because of their legalistic attitude toward
others, it is significant that Jesus never spoke a harsh
word to any who were described as publicans and sin-
ners. Jesus forgave them and allowed them to get
close to Him. By His words and actions Jesus
scandalized the religious leaders and offended their
sensibilities.

Ours is not a church of believers. Praise God for that.
Lets be like Jesus. He was described as the Friend of
sinners. Like Him, followers of Jesus should be friends
of sinners. Lets make our church one that welcomes
people of all sorts.

We shouldnt be like birds of a feather flocking
together. Since our natural inclinations are to connect
with those we know and love, we will need to learn to be
proactive in reaching out to others. We need to make
strangers welcome. Members of the church should
make newcomers feel welcome. Young people should
befriend older folks, and older people the young. Those
who are well off should care for those who are not as
well off.

We know all this. But when it comes to doing something
about it, we revert to what comes easy to usto con-
nect just with those known to us, and those we get
along with. As Jesus said, If you greet those who
greet you and love those who love you, how are you
different from all of the others?

tions and started their new ministry Lets Serve.

Roshini and Pastor Kuru are in Bangalore with their
daughter Elishba and family.

Eisnbergs are travelling to Mau to attend a wedding.
