Your title should go here. The title should highlight a major result of the lab. Introduction (Purpose statement): The main purpose for this section of the report is to provide the background and rationale for the lab. This section should consist of 1-2 sentences that tell the reader what the main overall purpose(s) were for the Lab. 1-2 sentences that tell the reader the specific purpose(s) of Lab Activity 1. 1-2 sentences that tell the reader the specific purpose(s) of Lab Activity 2. Finally, 1-2 sentences that tell the reader the specific purpose(s) of Lab Activity 3. Results: The purpose of this section is to present and describe the results. This can be (and probably should be) arranged by activity. Be sure to provide a narrative with the results. Do not paste in the graphs and data without providing a story to go with them. Lab activity 1: The guidelines for this section state that nothing is required. However since you mentioned the activity in the introduction you should probably write something about it here. It would be fine to simply mention that the results for this section are attached to the end of this document (or something along those lines). Lab activity 2: In this section you will report your percent error calculations from the activity. A few sentences regarding how this activity was performed would be helpful in understanding the percent error results. This section requires a table of the percent error results from the four instruments used to measure the volume of water. The table should look something like this

Lab activity 3: This section will be used to describe the results of lab activity 3. The first thing you should describe is your THREE hypotheses that were generated in lab. Following the hypotheses a few sentences describing what you did during this activity would be helpful (how did you measure height, body temperature, room temperature and the water bath temperature). Describe that the data was collected from two lab sections. You must include a table (TABLE 2) from the raw data for the class (provided by the instructor) that is clearly labeled and contains the raw data for the class arranged from lowest to highest value. There should be 4 columns of data clearly labeled and units of measurement designated (Height, Room Temperature, Water bath temperature, and body temperature). The average, standard deviation, and range for each column should be calculated and displayed at the bottom of each column and be clearly labeled and with the correct significant figures and units of measurement. The table should look something like this.

Height (m) Body temperature (C) Room temperature (C) Water bath temperature (C) ## ## ## ## ## ## ## ## ## ## ## ## Average ## ## ## ## Standard Deviation ## ## ## ## Range ## ## ## ##
Following table 2 you will need two graphs. You might provide a brief description before each graph. The graphs should look something like this.
Graph 2 will show the frequency of body temperatures. Your Name BMS 110 Sec. #, Spring 2012, Katie McLemore 4
Discussion: In this section you will discuss your results. Write a discussion about TABLE 1. Some examples of things to talk about are: Was each instrument equally accurate: Why might the error have been large or small; what are some potential solutions to improve the error; What instruments were accurate and precise and which do you feel were only precise and how could this have happened? Write a discussion about TABLE 2. Some examples of things to talk about are: Which measurements had the greatest range and standard deviation and why might this have been the case; Do you feel that the data supported your initial hypotheses; If it did not why might your hypothesis have been flawed? Write a discussion about the graphical representation of the data in GRAPH 1 and GRAPH 2. Compare the two graphs: What are the similarities and/or differences in the distribution of the data? Does the data follow a nice bell shaped distribution or is it skewed in one direction? Are there any data points that appear abnormal (outliers)? BE SURE TO ATTACH YOUR LABORATORY 1 WORKSHEETS
