Effective way to combat crime

THE complaints raised by some people in the social media that gated communities are a waste,
allow developers to generate more income and are not theft-free are not justified.
The concept is not targeted at getting more income as the benefits go well beyond dollars and
cents besides being one of their salient selling points. They have, in fact, assumed a greater role
in efforts towards a crime-free environment in housing estates.
The situation we face today is different from yesteryear. Residents are often left in a quandary,
having to stand up for themselves when faced with criminals.
We just cant stand by and watch it happening. The problem will remain dire if we fail to take
affirmative measures to turn the situation around.
It is rather difficult to measure the impact of gated communities but they have proven to be very
effective in curbing crime. The way I see it, the complainants have mixed feelings over the
security system and its provider.
If the police can do a good job,why the need for gated communities?
To be fair, we do not expect the police to tackle this alone with their limited manpower. It is a
situation the police cannot fight alone without the involvement and commitment of residents
associations and non-governmental associations. As a case in point, the police unit in Bandar
Puteri, Puchong, is doing a good job.
The growth of guarded communities has come under public scrutiny. Nevertheless, I believe they
will be here to stay because of the many success stories since the concept was implemented.
Perhaps, the complainants have not sized up the situation, such as public safety is the gravest
concern now. The underlying reason for such developments taking place is in the best interests of
all residents.
Residents can pick on issues to justify their agenda, more so those who are reluctant to subscribe
to the security maintenance fee.
In the meantime, lets do what we can. Instead of being armchair critics, let us take a more
assertive step towards better management of our gated and guarded concept, as in unity, we
make the difference.

By referring to an article in The News Strait Time entitled Effective way to combat crime
written by Eddy Ng Soon Hoh , a complain raised by some people through media social about the gated
communities development even though it is a fundamental way to combat crime nowadays. Besides that,
the concept of gated communities is not based on getting more income or being one of government salient
selling points but assuming a greater role in efforts towards a crime-free environment in housing estates.
According to a situation we face today, residents have to take an affirmative measures to turn the situation
around by applying the gated communities method that which can help to combat crime and reducing the
use of police manpower that are proved to be effective in curbing crime. Nowadays, scrutiny from the
growth of guarded communities is crucial things to avoid crime. Resident must do some research by not
just complaining and give the best commitment to against crime .For the final conclusion, residents must
act more assertive step towards a better management of gated communities, not complaining about the
costs or management because this is for the sake of their own. So the gated communities are the effective
way to combat crime and believe that if we all light up, we can scare away the dark.
