TESON II Test rig and cases

Order no. 1591, 1593, 1604
The light alloy TESON II test rig (order no. 1591)
consists of a clamping unit, two 30cm and two 40cm
pillars, adapter bell, a set of adapter inlay plates, three
bridges (unit of piston and force sensors) and a lift
sensor. Pic. 1 shows the test rig ready to use with the
10kN bridg, stored in a Rig Case (order no. 1593).
The other two bridges are stored in the Accessories
Case (order no. 1604). Any configuration of the TESON
standard rig (1kN, 10kN or 20kN) may be stored in
the rig case with the remaining bridges stored in the
accessories case. When a test is done the test rig is
packed back as it is to minimize rigging time.
Rig case and accessories case offer separate
compartments to store inlay plates, pressure
transducers and various tools.

TESON II Power Box

Order no. 1564
It includes the hydraulic pump unit as well as signal
processing electronic. A socket with different pin layouts
is available for force, lift, line pressure, ultrasound and
data (RS232).
A voltmeter shows the tension level of the power
supply. Two fuse sockets enable fast replacement of
the fuse if required.
Two different hydraulic couplings are available to connect the up and the down line hydraulic hose. Using
male and female connections makes it impossible to
mix up the lines. A mechanical emergency lever opens
a ball valve between up and down line, releasing the
pressure from the test rig directly back into the tank
if required. An outside level indicator is placed on the
front panel to check the oil level inside the tank.

A rig cable is a bundle of two hydraulic hoses (up and
down lines) and two sensor lines (force and lift signal).
In case of +AUX versions it includes an additional
sensor line for the ultrasound sensor Each hose and
cable end has a unique connector or coupling to
make sure they can not be mixed up. A special high
temperature hose protects hydraulic hoses and cables
permanently up to 80 C and shortly up to 1000 C,

The data cable connects TESON Power Box (order
no. 1564) with a notebook computer. A special high
temperature hose protects the coble permanently up

Calibration cable for TESON force sensors

Order no. 1586
Force sensors require frequent calibration to be carried
out at a calibration laboratory. The laboratroy requires
free cable ends to connect the sensor to supply and
measuring equipment. To save the laboratory from
removing the connector, a cable with a suitable force
sensor connection on one side and free cable ends
on the other side is part of supply within every new
TESON unit.

Cable, pressure (2 wire)

Order no. 1576, 1574
Pressure transducers to measure the line pressure
need to be connected to the power box. A 10m short
cable (order no. 1576) is available in case the distance
to the power box is short. For longer distances the 10m
cable is extended with a 50m cable (order no. 1574).
The 50m cable is only an extension and can not be
used without the 10m cable. With the sensors working
on 4-20mA a two wire cable is used.

To record line pressure METRUS LS-Mechanik offers
a set of pressure transducers with BSP 1/2 threat. A
set consists of a 16bar, 100bar and 250bar transducer plus a small storage case. Customers can choose
from two different accuracy classes (0.5% or 0.25%
of range) and two different types (ATEX or standard).
METRUS LS-Mechanik offers class 0.5% as it suits the
application. Higher accuracy is only required in very
rare cases. For utilising the pressure transducers on
hot fluids, a cooling coil (not shown) is part of the pressure sensor set.

TSB - TESON Safety Barriers

Order no. 1589
The TSB consist of two parts - an interface box and a
cable drum (cable drum not shown). The interface box
is plugged in line between the power box and the rig
cable. The cable drum holds a potential ground cable
that has to connect the interface box with the test rig
and the valve to be tested.
Based on the TESON ATEX approval the interface
box and Power Box has to stay outside the eex area
- only the test rig may be operated inside. It is therefore
required to have a rig cable of suitable length. Most
TSB owners use a 50m rig cable, especially in a service
environment where you never know how the next job
set up will have to look like. Plant owners with a defined
application sometimes use a 20m or 30m cable.
The TESON ATEX approval for the TSB does not cover
the use of ultrasound inside the eex area !

TESON - Ultrasound - VS
Order no. 1555
The ultrasound measurement system consists of an
ultrasound sonde in a magnetic hoslter to be clamped
on the valve, an amplifier and cables to connect sonde,
amplifier and Power Box. All items are packed in a
Pelican case.
An ultrasound sonde may only be a few meters (typically
1,5m to 2m) away from the amplifier. Within the TESON
Ultrasound VS solution the amplifier is packed in a
protective Palican Case that is placed close to the test
rig. A BNC cable connects the sonde with amplifier.
A separate cable is available to connect the amplifier
with dedicated cable of the rig cable +AUX.
If Ultrasound is add later to an existing system,
METRUS LS-Mechanik provides a separate cable to
connect amplifier and Power Box. For new orders we
recommend the use of AUX ready rig cables.

METRUS LS-Mechanik provides a HP mobile desk jet
printer of the latest type. It is equipped with a Bluetooth
card, battery and packed in a suitable Pelican case.

TESON II Notebook
Order no. 1608
METRUS LS-Mechanik provides the most suitable
notebook for the application online safety valve testing.
We take extra care for the notebook to be of a major
supplier to guarantee world wide support and easy
access of our customers to localised sources. If local
keyboards are available METRUS LS-Mechanik will
supply a localised version of the notebook. If the local
language is not English, METRUS LS-Mechanik will
supply Windows XP Professional or Windows 7 multi
lingual edition for the customer to change the operating
system language into whatever he considers best. At
present the notebook of choice is a Panasonic Toughbook
CF-19. It has best size and performance. To protect the
notebook on transportation it is packed into a Pelican
case.

TESON Software licence

Having in house programming man power, METRUS
owns the full copy right of the entire TESON source
code. The software licence permits the user to install
the TESON software on as many computers he
considers useful and to use all software tools that are
provided for various purposes. The software licence
includes lifetime support (including remote desktop
support sessions) and free software updates - lifetime.
Since July 2010 the TESON software is Windows 7
compatible.

The 50 kN test rig is an independent, sand alone test
rig with light alloy test rig constructions, inlay plates,
adapter bell hydraulic piston and force sensor. It is
stored, ready to use, in a Pelican case.
! A lift sensor is not part of the scope of supply - the 50
kN test rig uses the lift sensor of the 20kN test rig ! i
If required an additional lift sensor can be ordered
separately (order no. 1536).

Items not shown

Items like data and calibration cables or various spare
part sets are not listed within this document because
they are of minor importance.
Especially spare part sets include parts that are good
to have at hand for small repairs. They do depend on
the individual product they are meant for and change
according to the changes of their related product.

at any time.
