A. Component
In the explanation below, I would like to contrast tiger, lion, jaguar, leopard,
cougar, and cheetah. The reason why I contrasted with those noun is because those noun
share a number of common components. The common components are:
1. They included into the kingdom Animalia (in contrast with pine included into the
kingdom Plantae)
2. They included into the phylum Chordate (in contrast with spiders that included into
the phylum arthropods)
3. They included into the class Mammalia (in contrast with the crocodile that included
into the class of reptiles)
4. They included into the family Felidae (in contrast with the wolf that included into the
family Canidae)
5. They are four-legged animals (in contrast with fowl that has two legs)
6. They were included into the types of carnivores (in contrast with cow included in
herbivores)
7. They included into the vertebrates (in contrast with insects that included into the
invertebrates)
8. They live in the land (in contrast with whales that live in the sea).
9. They are wild animal (in contrast with cat that domesticated animal).
The conceptual meaning of each verb that is taken from Cambridge Advance learners
Dictionary Third edition 2008 can be described below:
TIGER: a large wild animal of the cat family with yellowish orange fur with black lines
which lives in parts of Asia.

LION: a large wild animal of the cat family with yellowish brown fur which lives in
Africa and southern Asia.
JAGUAR: a large wild animal of the cat family which lives in Central and South
America.
LEOPARD: a large wild cat that has yellow fur with black spots on it and lives in Africa
and southern Asia.
COUGAR: a large brown wild cat that lives in North and South America.
CHEETAH: a wild animal of the cat family, with yellowish brown fur and black spots,
which can run faster than any other animal.

C. Analysis
From the table above we can see that tiger, lion, jaguar and leopard are from the
pantherinae subfamily because they have + value in the table pantherinae subfamily and value in the table felinae subfamily. While the cougar and cheetah came from the felinae
subfamily because they have + value in the table felinae subfamily and - value in the
table pantherinae subfamily.
The category fur color, tiger has - / + value in the table brown and white, which
means that the tiger can be colored brown or white. Tiger has - value in the table black
and yellow, which means that the tiger is not colored black or yellow. Lion has + value in
the brown color, which means that the lion just colored brown. Lion has - value in the
table white, black and yellow, which means that the lion is not colored white, black or
yellow. Jaguar and leopard have the same value, namely - / + value in the table brown,
black and yellow, which means that the jaguar and leopard can be colored brown, black
or yellow. Jaguar and leopard have a value - in white table, which means that the jaguar
and leopard are colorless white. Cougar and cheetah have the same value, namely - / +
value in the brown table, which means that the cougar and cheetah are just colored brown
because they have value - in the table white, black and yellow, which means that they is
not colored white, black or yellow.
In the category skin pattern, Tiger patterned striped because it has + value in the
striped table and it has - value in the table spotted and plain. Lion and cougar have plain
skin without any pattern because they have + value in plain tables and they have - value
in the table striped and spotted. Jaguar, leopard and cheetah patterned spotted because
they have + value in the table spotted and value - in striped and plain tables.

For the category of origin, tiger comes from Asia and Europe because it has +
value in the table of Asia and Europe as well as it has - value in the table of Africa,
America and Australia. Lion and leopard come from Asia and Africa because they have +
value in the table of Asia and Africa as well as they have value in the table of Europe,
America and Australia. Jaguar and cougar come from America because they have + value
only in America and they have - value in the table of Asia, Africa Europe, and Australia.
Whereas, cheetah come from Africa because it has + value in the table Africa and it has value in the table of Asia, Europe, America and Australia.
The category of swimming ability, tiger and jaguar have the ability to swim
because they have + value in the table swim and they have - value in the table cant
swim. Lion, leopard, cougar and cheetah does not have the ability to swim because they
have + value in table cant swim and they have value in the table swim.
For the category of colony, tiger, lion and leopard live in colonies or groups
because they have + value in group table and they have - value in the table individually.
Whereas jaguar, cougar and cheetah do not live in colonies or individually because they
have + value in the table individually and they have - value in group table.
In the category of weight in adulthood, tiger and lion weighs more than 100
kilograms because they have + value in the table >100kg and have - value in table
<100kg. Whereas leopard, jaguar, cougar and cheetah weighs less than 100 kilograms
