Janssen Biologics

Frontline LED and Medlock were engaged by

Janssen Biologics to carry out a survey and
supply of replacement lighting for their walk-on
ceiling across two manufacturing floors at their
facility in Co. Cork.
The existing luminaires consisted of 120w
and 170w PL luminaires which were providing
maintenance challenges and consuming
significant energy in the plant.
Janssen Biologics wanted to address the
following concerns;

Lower the energy consumption taken up

from existing lighting

Lower the ambient heat emission from the

luminaires

Ensure that light levels were retained and

met SOP on site

Offer additional savings through daylight

harvesting and intelligent sensoring where
applicable

Offer a solution to fit into existing luminaire

openings despite their non-standard size.

Frontline LED and Medlock delivered a solution

which eliminated 300,000 KwH per year - a
55% reduction in consumption. Additionally,
maintenance on the lighting in both suites
will be significantly lower than the highmaintenance PL luminaires. The absence of
UV light from the LED spectrum also provides
more stability for epoxy flooring in the clean
production environment.
Each of the luminaires was replaced with a
customized panel from our FL-L Series of LED
panels to meet the needs of Janssen Biologics.
These were designed, measured, piloted and
signed off and customized to each luminaire
type in the suites.

certified for clean production environments.

The FL-L Series are outstanding luminaires for
clean production. They emit little heat, are IPA
resistant and are significantly more efficient
offering better light quality than traditional
fluorescent.

Despite a non-standard ceiling recess, Frontline
LED manufactured our solution especially to
meet Janssen Biologics specification and
enable them to save substantially across the
facility.

Design
A full design of our LED light panels for the
production facility in Cork, complete with
3D simulation so the client can judge the
effectiveness of the light before committing to
the project.
