Physics is a science of nature. It pretends to explain all the phenomena in nature, from the biggest objects of
the universe such as stars and galaxies that we can observe in telescope or with naked eye to the smallest
subatomic world composes by invisible particles. It also pretends to give an explanation of how the universe
has becoming the world as we know it now. To build these explanations of how the universe works, the
physicist suppose that the world in we are living follows logical rules that we can understand. They also try
to express these rules in mathematical language and they make experiments in order to verifying them. To
convert these rules in more general ones, physicists join them in models called theories. Finally, these
theories have to be consistent, what it means is that they cant have logical contradictions inside them.
The importance of physics in the modern history was the improvement of the knowledge in order to explain
how universe works. In one hand, this new knowledge could (was able to) permit the development of new
technologies. To give an example, the researches made in electromagnetism, thermodynamics or nuclear
physics have made possible the inventions used in our modern life such as TVs, computers or electricity
power plants. In the other hand, this understanding of the universe has open researches and questions in
other areas such as mathematic or philosophy. One example of this is the mathematical problems which
have been actually solved (by) using properties of physics theories such as the gauge symmetry in the string
theory. Another example in philosophy is the limits that the quantum theory has set to the knowledge. In
quantum theory it is impossible to know the momento and position of a particle at the same time.
Actually, we have a large number of theories to explain the facts observed in the universe. However, these
theories become inconsistent if we are trying to put together, this means that they only can explain
phenomena in a specific ranges. It is known that general relativity and quantum mechanics are in
contradiction, the first explains the macro world and the second the subatomic world, but there are a
considerable number of theories that they are in the same situation, such as thermodynamics and statistical
mechanics. Physicists are trying to solve all these problems (by) making new theories of everything such
as the incomplete string theory. In this processes, some physicists have left the science method and have
adopted another ways to think, (such as) making theories that are not in consistent with the observed
phenomena. it seems to me that it is important to continue with researches in order to have a complete
explanation of universe in a no distant future.
