Anup Kumar (kabaddi)

Anup Kumar 20 November 1983 (age 30) is an Indian professional Kabaddi player. Born in a Hindu
Yadav family, he was in Indian national team. He is captain of U Mumba team in Pro Kabaddi
League. Born in village Palra in Gurgaon district, he is an inspector with the Haryana.[1] he was part
of the team that won gold in Asian games 2014 in Incheon. He was India's key to success for
winning gold medal in the recently held Asian games in Incheon. In 2012, he was awarded
the Arjuna Award for his achievements in the sport, by the Government of India,[2]

Career[edit]
Anup Kumar of India captured Meisam Abbasi of Iran as he tried to raid for points during the Men's
Kabaddi final of the2010 Asian Games on November 26, 2010 in Guangzhou, China.

History[edit]
Pro Kabaddi, a first significant initiative of Mashal Sports, takes the sport of Kabaddi to levels of new
professionalism, which will benefit all stakeholders involved in the ecosystem of the game, Kabaddi,
most of all, the players themselves, who will become the new role models for the youth of India.
This bold step will highlight the new, modern, international and competitive face of Kabaddi
throughout the length and breadth of the country, and beyond.
Pro Kabaddi is an eight-city league with games to be played on a caravan format with each team
playing each other twice in July and August, 2014. In a significant value addition to Kabaddi, these
games will be carried live on prime time TV by the international broadcaster, Star Sports for millions
to view across India and the world.

League Organization[edit]
The 8 teams will play in a caravan format, travelling together to all 8 venues to play 56 league
matches, two semifinals, one 3rd and 4th position match and a Grand Finale, making a total of 60
Matches.[3]

The game of Kabaddi shall be governed and played under the general rules of IKF and, specifically,
Pro Kabaddi rules
Rules of the ground[edit]
Ground[edit]
Ground shall be level, covered by standardized playing mat.
Play Field Measurements[edit]
Men 13 X 10 Meters MEN (Weight Limit) Below 85 kg Random dope tests on players from
participating teams will be conducted by the IKF from the concerned Institutions. If any individual is
found guilty, the concerned individual shall be debarred for the rest of the season.
Play[edit]
Field The play field means that portion of the ground, which measures 13 meter by 8 meter (ABCD)
for Men before struggle.
Sitting Block[edit]
The sitting block shall be as positioned and provided by the league.

Boundary[edit]
The lines on the four sides of the play field are known as the boundaries (AB, BC, CD and DA). All
lines shall be of 3 to 5 cm width and form the part of the play field.
Lobbies[edit]
The strips on both the sides of the playfield measuring one meter in width are known as the Lobbies.
When the lobbies, as per rule 4 under Rules of Play are included in the playfield, the boundaries of
the play-field are extended up to the four lines, which enclose the play-field including the lobbies.
Mid Line[edit]
The line that divides the play field into two halves is known as the mid-line.
Court[edit]
Each half of the play field divided by the mid line is known as the Court.
Baulk Line[edit]
Each of the lines in court parallel to the midline is known as baulk line. The distance of the baulk line
from the mid line shall be 3.75 meter in case of Men.
Bonus Line[edit]
The line parallel to Baulk line towards end line is known as Bonus line. The distance between Bonus
line and Baulk line shall be 1 meter. Note: Raider is said to have crossed the Bonus line when he
comes into contact with the ground between the End line and Bonus line. At the same time any part
of his body should not have contact with the ground between the mid line and Bonus line.
Cant[edit]
The repeated, without break; at a stretch and clear aloud sounding of the approved word KABADDI
within the course of one respiration shall be called Cant.
Raider[edit]
One who enters into the court of the opponent with the cant is known as a RAIDER. The raider
must begin his cant before he touches the opponents court.
Anti or Anti-Raider[edit]
Every player in whose court the raid is being made shall be called Anti or Anti Raider.
Losing the cant[edit]
To stop the repeated and clear aloud sounding of the word KABADDI or take in a breath during cant
by the raider is known as losing the cant. A cant must be continued within one and the same
respiration.
To put out an Anti[edit]
If a raider touches an anti without the breach of rules of play, or if any part of the body of an anti
touches any part of the body of the raider, and then the raider touches his court with the cant, the
anti is said to be put out.
To hold a Raider[edit]
If the anti or antis hold the raider without breach of rules of play and keep the raider in their court and
do not allow him to reach his court until he loses his cant or the Referee/Umpire blows the whistle, it
is known as holding the raider.

To reach court safely[edit]


If the raider touches his court with any part of the body through the midline without breach of rules
with cant, he is said to have reached his court safely and turn of raid is over.
Touch[edit]
If the raider touches the anti or antis by any part of his body or even the clothing / shoes, it is called
a touch.
Struggle[edit]
When the anti or antis come into contact with the raider, it is called struggle. After touch or struggle,
the play field immediately includes the lobbies.
Raid[edit]
a) When the raider enters the court of opponent with cant, it is known as Raid. b) Each raid is
restricted to 30 seconds (in both the halves) by the Stadium / TV clock (both Stadium / TV clocks to
be synchronized with each other). The clocks will be set / reset as raider crosses the center
line/when the raid is over. The clocks will be stopped when: (i) Raider crosses center line on
returning to his court (ii) Raider exits the arena after being declared 'OUT', or goes out of bounds
and is declared out.
Completed Raid[edit]
When the raider crosses the Baulk line of the defending team at least once during the course of a
raid and returns to his court with cant, it is known as a Completed Raid.
Note - 1. In case the Raider touches an anti or an anti touches the raider before the raider crosses
the baulk line during the raid, the raider need not cross the Baulk line but must return to his court
with the cant.
2. Baulk line is said to be crossed when any part of the body of the raider is in contact with the
ground between the Baulk line and the End line of the opponents court. At the same time any part of
the raiders body should not have contact with the ground between the mid line and the baulk line.
Pursuit[edit]
When an anti rushes into the opponents court with cant, and without breach of rules, chasing the
returning raider with a view to touch, it is called pursuit.
Unproductive Raid[edit]
If a raider does not score any point or lose any point during the raid, the raid will be treated as
unproductive raid of his team.
Super catch[edit]
If the raider is caught when there are only 3 defenders or less, the defending team gets 1 additional
point which is called Super Catch point. This is in addition to the normal point scored for putting the
raider out (total points for defending team will be 2).
Note revival for defending team in this case will still remain at 1 person This unique effort has the
formal backing by the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF), the Asian Kabaddi Federation (AKF) &
the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI), who will be closely associated with the organization
and delivery of this event.
