Continuous Writing: Unforgettable Experience / Incident
2.3 Write descriptions and recounts
Students are able to:
1. ask wh-questions to organize and expand ideas
2. rearrange sentences to make a simple story
3. make simple sentences using the SSVEEE table
1. Teacher brainstorms with students on their unforgettable experience / incident/
event. Students write them down the circle map.
2. Students write down wh-questions that they can ask to organize and expand
ideas.
3. Students rearrange sentences to make a simple story. Checking of answers.
4. Students complete a Noun, verb, adjectives and adverbs table by identifying them
from the simple story.
5. Students, at random, are asked to complete the SSVEEE table with the words
they find in the simple story. This is a language awareness activity to ensure that
they write correct simple sentences.
6. Based on their unforgettable experience, students complete a story map (The
beginning, The build-up, Climax, Resolution and Ending).
Homework: Answering wh-questions to expand on ideas.

CONTINUOUS WRITING (CONTINUATION)
2.3 Write descriptions and recounts
Students are able to:
1. make simple sentences by answering wh-questions given in the worksheet
2. expand ideas using wh-questions
3. use the thesaurus and look up possible words to replace overused & vague
words (action verbs, adjectives and adverbs)
1. Students answer wh-questions and brainstorm on words to help them in
describing the jungle, the fauna and flora in it, movement, actions etc.
2. Students complete a text on an unforgettable experience.
3. Students review the language and correct the errors in a text.
4. Students use dictionaries and thesauri to replace words in a text with overused
words.
5. Students study a list of questions and discuss how the same plot could be used
to write a narrative and answer the questions.
Homework: Students come up with their own original plot and write their own
narrative.

ACTIVITIES

1. Teacher gives a little input on adjectives, adverbs and sentence structures /


patterns.
2. Students use the thesaurus and dictionary to look up suitable words in describing
people, scene and actions.
3. Students brainstorm on suitable adverbs to add into the text to make it more
interesting.
4. Students join sentences together with the words given in brackets.
5. Students review their own writing and edit the structures of their sentences where
appropriate.
6. If time permits, students look into strategies of writing powerful introduction and
ending.
Homework: Review on their essays.
