BRITISH AMERICAN BUSINESS COUNCIL IN THE MIDLANDS

Work Placement 2010/2011

ORGANISATION DESCRIPTION

The British-American Business Council (BABC), headquartered in New York, is the

largest transatlantic business network, with 25 chapters and 3,000 member
companies throughout North America and the United Kingdom.

The BABC works to actively promote the US-UK business partnership and provides its
chapters and member businesses with access to a broader, transatlantic business
network. Numerous business benefits and opportunities are available to its member
companies, in addition to those offered by the regional BABC chapters.

The BABC is a not-for-profit membership organisation and is governed by its Board

of Directors, which includes a representative from each of the regional chapters.
Locally, the BABC Midlands is a dynamic group committed to the promotion of two-
way UK/North American trade and investment. We provide the opportunity to meet
and develop contacts within the transatlantic business community. We have a
diverse membership of over 100 businesses, ranging from sole proprietors to large
corporate organisations.

Our group is committed to providing useful services to our members. In addition to

offering the BABC database, information updates and varied events regionally and
throughout the network, we actively work to get to know our members and their
transatlantic business needs. It is this bespoke aspect of our organisation, which has
attracted and retained members.
