History
The ritish Land Rover Defender ancestry datesback to 1948, when

Series II and III and in 1983 the names Land Rover 90 and 110

The 110 Soft Top (ST) is among the most frequently used and the

The first user of Land Rovers in the Army of


the Czech Republic was the 4th Rapid
Deployment Brigade and its 43rd Airborne
Mechanised Battalion. The vehicles of this
battalion are typically painted with tactical
camouflage which can be washed off by
water and which is daubed on over the basic
khaki paint.

LRD 11 0 ST serves the soldiers of the 311 th

The main armament of LRD SOV is composed of a DShK 38/46 12,7 mm heavy
machine-gun or an AGS-17 30 mm automatic grenade launcher. The crew can also
use PKB 7.62 mm light machine-gun which
is situated in the weapon holder near the
front-seat passenger, an RPG-75 light antitank weapon and personal weapons such
as MP-5SD6a submachine-gun. Sa vz. 58 Pi

Although this is a Militaryversion with tools and spare wheel support


on the engine bonnet, th1s new vehicle was also equipped with two
spare wheels placed on the sides of the crash bar according to the

To the crew equipment of the Land Rover Defender SOV II vehicle is

ln the Army ofthe Czech Republic (ACR) the
Land Rover Defender 11 0 Station Wagons
(SW) perform mainly the task of escort and
command vehicle/staff car. They are also
used by Military Police members and they
are used as a basis for the installation of
different communications vehicle bodies.

The R 7p command and commun ication

designated for storage of small car spare parts and necessary tools for wheel changing. This
LRD 110 HardTop is equipped with a WARM electrical winch and air filter for deep fording.
The Military variant is typically equipped with a tool holder and spare wheel on the engine
bonnet.

353 VHF radiostation used for communication when in convoy and with a VRC 321 HF
radiostation for connection to bases in
Tomislavgrad and Split. At the turn of 1992
and 1993 members of this unit built the
ailey bridge over the river Neretva 30 km
north of Mostar.

ln January 1993 several Bosn1an/Serbian


artillery shells landed on the ritish base in
Tomislav. These Land Rover Defenders 110
HT were among the damaged vehicles .
