Turning back

Luke 17:32 “Remember Lot's wife.”

Luke 9:62 “And Yeshua said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit
for the kingdom of Elohiym.”
Having desire for the world—unfit. Consider where temptation leads, effect it has on us.

Luke 15:16 “And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave
unto him.”
Found himself in a wretched place because he wandered from his place.
Scripture not only provides the exhortation and warnings, but also solutions.
Issue of turning back

Matthew 13:21,22 “Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or
persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. He also that received seed among the
thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the
word, and he becometh unfruitful.”
(“And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in,
choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.” Mark 4:19)
Lusts of other things entering in
Living by the Word brings tribulation, persecution. A purification process. Many become unwilling to bear
it. Reasons why some may fall away – heart begins to decline after the world.

Proverb 4:23 “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it [are] the issues of life.”
If we’re not putting forth that effort, if lax, if allowing thoughts to enter in… a little leaven leaveneth the
whole lump. It grows.

Hebrews 12:3 “For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be
wearied and faint in your minds.”
If we reach a point where we think we can’t take this anymore–this is too much–we falter. If we do that,
we’re believing a lie. The flesh doesn’t like to fight.

1 Corinthians 10:13 ”There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but Elohiym [is]
faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also
make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it].”
This is a promise. At times when we don’t feel like that, we need to believe, and will see.

Jeremiah 11:10 “They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my
words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have
broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.”
Refusing to hear His Words.

Josiah—heart tender. (“Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before Yahveh,
when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should
become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard [thee],
saith Yahveh.” 2 Kings 22:19, “And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the
law, that he rent his clothes.” vs 11 … )
Hearing the Word, letting it abide in us. His Word having an effect in our lives.

Zephaniah 1:6 “And them that are turned back from the Yahveh; and [those] that have not sought Yahveh,
nor enquired for him.”
Not seeking Yahveh. Association between turning back and not seeking Yahveh.

Do we really take delight in praying to El, in drawing near to Elohiym?

A love for the Word

When desire for spiritual things declines, that signifies a turning away.
Jeremiah 2:19 “Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know
therefore and see that [it is] an evil [thing] and bitter, that thou hast forsaken Yahveh Eloheyka, and that
my fear [is] not in thee, saith Adonai GOD of hosts.”
Association between backsliding and His fear not being in thee.
Do we fear Elohiym? the things we say, our actions: Are they pleasing to Elohiym? or do we go about doing
things because it seems O.K. to us?

Ephesians 6 – the Armour of Elohiym

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit … ” vs 18
Can’t go into battle without helmet, shield, etc. Folly to think that we can endure without seeking Elohiym.
Not the soul who comes with the attitude of outrunning everyone else—but the soul who knows that all
their strength comes from Elohiym. The soul who knows that moment by moment we have to
acknowledge Elohiym: without Him we are nothing. If it weren’t for His grace, we would be overcome by
temptation. Only in El (is strength, grace, etc).
