The course brings together experts and analysts from across the
region.This computational geotechnics course is tailored for engineers

In this course, you will learn advanced techniques and solutions from
experts from Plaxis and partner academic institutions. Plaxis
numerical analysts will have the opportunity to further develop their

FORMAT
The course starts with registration on 15 December 2014. The course
consists of intensive session blocks and each block is made of two full 45
min lectures and a 60 min exercise with full tutoring.

Austria. He has over 15 years of experience in development and application of the finite element method.
As a member of several committees Helmut is involved in formulating guidelines and recommendations
for the use of finite elements in practical geotechnical engineering.
Franz studied civil engineering in Graz and works since 2006 in the Computational Geotechnics Group of
Graz University of Technology. He is expert in 3D finite element modelling and his main research topic is
related to deep foundations focusing on the improvement of the embedded pile formulation in Plaxis 3D
Foundation and pile soil interactions.Since 2007 he is also involved in consulting and carried out numerical
analysis for a couple of high rise buildings in Europe.
Masyhur Irsyam is a Profesor in the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Bandung Institute of
Technology, Bandung, Indonesia. He graduated from the University of Michigan, USA in 1991. Irsyam has
specialties in the areas of seismic hazard analysis, soil improvement, and foundation engineering. He has
been involved as a geoetechnical expert in main infrastructure projects in Indonesia and he is currently
conducting research to revise the Indonesian seismic hazard map. He had been serving as the head of
Geotechnical Engineering Division of Bandung Institute ofTechnology.Prof.Irsyam currently serves as the
head of Indonesian Society of Geotechnical Engineering (ISGE).
Indra is a Geotechnical Lecturer in the Civil Engineering Department, National Institute of Technology
(Itenas), Bandung, Indonesia. He graduated from the Graz University of Technology, Austria in 2012. His
main research topic is related to slope stability using numerical method. He gave lectures related to soil
mechanics and foundation engineering in Civil Engineering Department, National Institute of Technology,
Bandung.He had been serving as the head of Geotechnical Laboratory in National Institute ofTechnology
(Itenas) Bandung.
REGISTRATION
William is currently a Principal Geotechnical Consultant in Plaxis AsiaPac. He received his BEng (Hons)
and MSc in Civil Engineering from the University of East London. He holds a Ph.D from the National
University of Singapore.His interest is in Computational Geotechnics.He lectures aroundAsia on the use
of Plaxis finite element codes and a member of the Plaxis Expert Service team. He has been involved with
Plaxis finite element codes since 2000
Ikhya is a Geotechnical Lecturer in the Civil Engineering Department, National Institute of Technology
(Itenas), Bandung, Indonesia. Currently, he takes postgraduate in Graz University of Technology, Austria.
His main research topic is related to ground improvement using numerical method. He gave lectures
related to soil mechanics and foundation engineering in Civil Engineering Department, National Institute
ofTechnology,Bandung.
