1. Introduction
Community Service 2 is a UniKL BIS subject that emphasizes community service
activities in order to cultivate Corporate Social Responsibility values among its business
students. Corporate Social Responsibility is the applications of Community Service at the
business and corporate level where businesses incorporate Corporate Social
Responsibility values such as accountability, integrity and respect for human right and
the environment to ensure their businesses undertake due diligence to ensure their
activities to not bring negative impacts to the community and the environment and
instead bring long term benefits to both. In Community Service 2 at UniKL Business
School (BIS), students undertake 3 community service activities through which they learn
to organize community service projects such as fund raising activities and a charity
marathon. Through these activities students develop important soft skills such as team
work and solid communication skills that are beneficial in their future careers. Eventually
the experiences from Community Service 2 are expected to help the students at UniKL
BIS implement Corporate Social Responsibility values when they work in the corporate
world and help businesses to be more responsible towards the wellbeing of society.
This report summarizes a Community Service 2 project in which our group of 15 students
distributed essential items such as food, medicine and clothes to four villages in the
Kemensah area near Zo negara. The target group of this project are the poor residents of
Kampung Chinchin, Kampung Kemensah, Kampung Pasir and Kampung Orang Asli
Hulu Kemensah. Several Muslim families in these four villages have been identified as
living below the poverty line by the Pusat Zakat. Hence, the aim of this project is to help
the families by donating the essential items and ensuring that the conditions of the
families are documented for further actions from the authorities and for further
assistance.
This project is divided into two activities

Comments on Activity 2:
The group failed to distribute donated items to one family who was missed and
overlooked in the project planning. The causality of this weakness is poor organization
during the planning and implementation stage of the project. The tasks of planning and
implementations are undertaken solely by the Leader and Deputy Leader who may have
overburdened by too many tasks with limited support from other team members. As the
team consists of 15 members, several committees should have been created to distribute
the work load more efficiently.
4. Conclusion
This project at Kemensah has achieved its objectives in bringing essential items and food
to the urban poor of Kampung Kemensah. The project also brings awareness to the team
members with regards to the problem of urban poverty in Kuala Lumpur and the Klang
Valley. This exposure motivates the team members to be more conscious of the problem
of urban poverty and encourage us to participate and future poverty eradication programs
by the government and businesses. The project also provided opportunities for the team
to organize high impact community service projects which involves real planning and
implementation of action items such as fund raising and distribution of donated items to
the target families. This project also allows the team members to develop soft skills such
as leadership, communications skills and team work that are beneficial in the working
world. Through this project, the students of UniKL BIS are encouraged to develop
meaningful relationship with the surrounding community and demonstrate that UniKL
BIS advocates strong Corporate Social Responsibility values among its students in
addition to academic excellence.
5. Recommendations
It is recommended that the group members are divided into committees in order to
distribute and the implement the tasks more efficiently. Each committee shuld
focus on a single task such as documenting the target families and ensuring each
family are allocated their fair share of essential items.
