2.2.E Estimate sums and differences.
Science
2-3 APPD - Tools help scientists see more,
measure more accurately, and do things that
they could not otherwise accomplish.
The student will create a ghost out of
marshmallows, estimate the number of
marshmallows, and look up information about
ghosts.
The student will understand the meaning of the
words estimate, Internet, research, technology,
and design.
9. Assessment
Plan
The assessment for this lesson will
be a checklist. The students will
get a check mark for every portion
of the lesson they complete.
Rationale
The reason for using a checklist is
because there are many different
portions in this lesson. Each part is
completely different so a checklist
would be most appropriate.
WHAT requisite skills do students need in order to access the lesson & participate
fully?
Answer: The students will need to know how to estimate, use a
computer, draw a design, and use glue.
How does the content build on what the students already know and are able to do?
Answer: Students already know how to estimate and look up
information. This lesson will give them more practice with these skills
by applying it in a new situation.
HOW does this lesson fit in the curriculum?
Answer: The curriculum requires students to estimate and use
technology to research information. This lesson allows students to
practice both of these skills.
By teaching this lesson, how will this add to student learning?
Answer: This lesson will add to student learning by integrating multiple
subjects and allowing students to practice multiple skills at once.
How will the learning in this lesson be further developed in subsequent lessons?
Answer: In the future, students will have to do a lot more research
using technology. They will also have to design more things and work
more with estimation.
