Sub: Constitution of District Level Anti-Ragging Committee.

Dear Sir,
In pursuance of the direction of the Supreme Court in University of Kerala v/s.
Council, Principals, Colleges and others in SLP no.24295 of 2006 dated 16.05.2007
and that dated 8.05.2009 in Civil Appeal number 887 of 2009, the University Grants
Commission has notified UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher
Education Institutions in 2009. These Regulations are mandatory and every institution
has to comply with the same in letter and spirit.
In pursuance of the aforesaid University Grants Commission Regulations, NALSAR has
already taken the following steps:
1) These regulations have been uploaded on NALSAR website for information of all
NALSAR students, their parents, guardians and public at large.
2) NALSAR Anti-Ragging Squad has been constituted:

3) NALSAR Anti-Ragging Helpline has also been created with mobile telephone
numbers, email IDs and fax numbers of all the aforesaid Officers and the same
shall be notified to the students and shall be uploaded on NALSAR Web Site.

4) Anti-Ragging posters with extracts of UGC Regulations on acts which constitute
Ragging, abetment of Ragging, Penalties which can be imposed and help-line
numbers shall be displayed / exhibited / notified to all the students on the campus.
5) A detailed undertaking against Anti-Ragging has been obtained from students and
their parents and guardians and the same shall be kept on record.
6) A letter has been written to the Senior Superintendent of Police, R.R. Distt and
the local SHO, Shameerpet P.S. requesting them to make a Mobile Police Patrol
available for deployment on and around NALSAR campus and request has
already been made for creation of local Police Helpline against Ragging.
7) The new students who report on 1st of July, 2012 shall be addressed by the ViceChancellor apprising them of all Anti-Ragging measures and Anti-Ragging Helplines.
8) All new students shall be lodged in a separate Boys & Girls Hostels and they shall
be divided into groups and each group shall be assigned to a faculty members.
The District Level Anti-Ragging Committee which has to be headed by the District
Magistrate has to be constituted by the State Government. State Level Monitoring Cell is
also to be constituted by the State Government.
This is to request you therefore to kindly take steps for:
1) Constitution of District Level Anti-Ragging Committee.
2) Order District Police and Local Police, Shameerpet to extend all help to combat
the menace of Ragging.

2) Creation of Police Anti-Ragging Helpline at Shameerpet Police Station.

mobile numbers, email address and fax numbers.
The detailed information on the above may kindly be supplied to us at your earliest
convenience.
