Read the following text and complete the given task.

Electronic waste or e-waste is the most rapidly growing waste problem in the world.
E-waste means wastes generated from the discarded or broken electrical and electronic
assemblies. E-waste covers products from as big as a refrigerator to as small as
a calculator, alarm clock, electronic thermometer or a laser pointer.

Disposal of e-waste has emerged as a problem in many parts of the u'orld.

E-waste that landfills produce is highly contaminated lechate which eventually pollutes
the surface water and underground. Cadmium causes serious toxic effects on human health.

In addition, combustion of e-waste will emit toxic fumes and gases that pollute
the surrounding air. When e-waste is exposed to fire, metals and other chemical substances.

extremely toxic dioxins and furans will be emitted. The toxic fall-out from open
air burning affects both the local environment and broader global air quality. depositing
highly toxic byproducts in many places throughout the world.

In general, users of electrical and electronic appliances who could

be

individuals, households, organisations or business entities should take responsibility

to ensure proper management of the end of life of the products that they have used.
Reduce and reuse should be the priority to discard eiectrical and electronic appliances.
E-waste should never be disposed of with other mixed wastes as well as other normal
recyclable materials such as glasses, plastics and papers. They should be segregated
and sold or given to collectors to ensure that they will be recycled by the licensed recyclers
or given back to the manufacturers of the appliances. We should also be wise consumers.

While buying electronics and electrical products, the consumers should opt for those
products that have the least toxic constituents.

Question 2
Read the following text and complete the given task.

A vortex is any spinning, flow of fluid or sometimes gas or air. When a cold
air front meets with a warm air front, a vortex can form. A vortex also is

a cyclonic swirl of dust and air. Vortices can be rotational and irrotational.

Both types of vortices exhibit a pressure minimum at the centre, though

the pressure minimum in a free vortex is much lower. The core of

a vortex in air is sometimes visible because of a plume of water vapour caused

by condensation in the low pressure of the core. The spout of

a tornado is a visible core of a vortex. A dust devil is also the core of
a vortex, made visible by the dust drawn upwards by the turbulent flow
of air from ground level into the low pressure core. A vortex is usually seen
forming ahead of the propeller disk or jet engine of a slow-moving airplane.
The vortex can suck water and small stones into the core and then into
the propeller disk or jet engine. A sheet of small vortices can be seen
flowing from the trailing edge of the wing or propeller of an airplane when
the wing is developing lift or the propeller is developing thrust.
On a much smaller scale, a vortex is usually formed as water goes down
a drain, as in a sink or a toilet. This occurs in water as the revolving mass forms
a whirlpool. This whirlpool is caused by water flowing out of a small opening
in the bottom of a basin or reservoir. This swirling flow structure within a region
of fluid flow opens downward from the water surface.
