CULTURAL DIFFERENCES
1. Culture is defined as the shared patterns of behaviors and interactions, cognitive
constructs, and affective understanding that are learned through a process of
socialization. These shared patterns identify the members of a culture group while
also distinguishing those of another group. Most social scientists today view
culture as consisting primarily of the symbolic, ideational, and intangible aspects
of human societies. The essence of a culture is not its artifacts, tools, or other
tangible cultural elements but how the members of the group interpret, use, and
perceive them. It is the values, symbols, interpretations, and perspectives that
distinguish one people from another in modernized societies; it is not material
objects and other tangible aspects of human societies. People within a culture
usually interpret the meaning of symbols, artifacts, and behaviors in the same or in
similar ways.
2. Cultural differences cause problems, it is better for people to stay in their own
countries rather than to migrate to other ones. I disagree with this statment
because I think a lot of cultural differences will makes our life be more colorful. If
in the world just have one cultural, we just know about one cultural also, and we
will not enjoy another cultural. And our life will be flat. From cultural differences
we can sharing and learning together about our cultural. And we dont must to
stay in our own countries, we can migrate to other ones and than learn about ther
culture, but dont forget about our original cunture. In there, we must introduce
our culture to another people in another curture. So, they can give an appreciation
to our culture.
3. I prefer to live in a multiculture than monoculture on society, because from
multiculture society we can get a lot of experience, knowladge, culture, and
relationship from a lot of people. And it will open our mind about everything. But,
if we live in monoculture on society we will get one culture only.
4. It is better to study major international languages like English rather than to
spend time on learning minority language (Javanese, Sundanese, or Melayu) as

regional identity. I agree with this statment because when we study major
international language like English we can get a lot of advantages, for example:

English is the primary language of business throughout the world. Most
international business transactions, including emails, memos, reports and
contracts, are written in English.

Employment Opportunities
The ability to fluently speak the English language in addition to your native
language can be beneficial if you're seeking job opportunities with international
companies. The ability to speak a language spoken by most business people can
place you a step ahead of the competition.

Movies
Major Hollywood movies have dialogue in English. The plot of these movies is
easier to follow if the person watching the movie speaks English. Subtitles in
other languages can sometimes cause the meanings of words to be lost in the
translation, and they can be a distraction or even block the action taking place on
the screen.

Travel
The English language is predominantly spoken throughout the world, so
international travelers may find that speaking English can make their travels a
little easier. Most hotel and restaurant employees, as well as store merchants,
probably speak English to some degree.

Schools
Students from other countries who attend school in the United States will benefit
greatly if they can know basic English. This knowledge will help them
communicate better with both their students and teachers. The students also will
have an easier time with any research or readings they are assigned.

Academics
The English language is the predominant language of academics all over the
world, with a large amount of research conducted, written and presented in
English. Knowing English can helpful for scholars who wish to communicate
their ideas and research findings to peers in their field.

Computers

Most software programs are written in English. Those seeking to expand their
computer knowledge can find the ability to read and understand the English
language invaluable.
And many more, so I prefer to study study major international language like
English because we can get a lot of advantages from it.
5. Multi-cultural marriage becomes trend nowadays. And it is doesnt matter for me,
because when they really love each other, they will be dont care about different
culture, religion, language, ethnic or etc. And from different culture they can
make a new combination from their culture. So they can learn together and
conserve their culture. Because differences is beautiful.
