“St. Francis Xavier, a welcoming faith community lovingly sharing the gifts of God.”

BAPTISM OF THE LORD

JANUARY 10TH, 2010
PRAYERS FOR THE DECEASED: We pray for our loved ones who have died recently,
especially Trudy Freemark Tomlin, Aileen Kubisheski and Barbara Switzer.
PRAYERS FOR THE SICK AND SHUT-IN: “Let us raise up in prayer those who seek
God’s healing love, those at the hospital, hospice and at home. May your struggle be
consoled by Christ’s love“.

CELEBRATING EUCHARIST
One assumption we make is that as baptized Catholics we are full aware of everything
about our Church. Adults who have had the opportunity to study the basic structure
of our celebrations have often remarked – “Why did we not learn this when we
were children?”. Well, we were likely busy learning so many other things about
our faith.
We expect our Church in Canada to issue a new “Sacramentary” in 2011. It will
affect the way we all celebrate daily Mass and Sunday Eucharist. We will need
time to review, reflect on, and implement a few things that will deepen our
appreciation of the celebration of our Sacrament.
Beginning this week, and continuing until Lent, we are using the homily time to look
at our current celebration of Eucharist, what the liturgy is meant to be,and how each
of us can fully participate in celebrating Mass.
