Some technicians will be required to enter all the information into the
Service Report
Some technicians will receive a Service Report partially completed,
enter their required areas, and then someone else will finish it
Some people other than technicians will record information into the
Service Report.
Some dealers will upload information to DBS
Some dealers will use Service Report as a standalone application
There are many scenarios this document will not address the
specific scenario, but rather the functionality within the Service
Report itself.
An understanding of what belongs in a Service Report is implied.

Header Section, displays that information to the top of the report
once the cursor is established in another field
Saved Service Report name is WO number and the date; i.e., 122-09 Trng_01_22_09.stw

Application Data
Application Data Section is the receiving bin for reports from Cat
ET and TA.
The send to service report action is initiated from the sending
application.

Report. Options now include:
1. Sending to an Open Service Report;
2. Sending to a previously saved report, or

The Dealers logo can be applied to the Service Report


Size of logo should not exceed 101 x 22 pixels
Save the image as dealer.jpg
The .jpg file belongs in the following location:
For XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Caterpillar\Service Report\Themes\Logos

For VISTA and Windows 7:


C:\ProgramData\Caterpillar\Service Report\Themes\Logos

Logo will show on printed report and in exported PDF

Customer or Service Report


Customer Report is intended for sharing with customers, and
normally shows less information than the standard Service Report.
Switch between Service Report and Customer Report through the
View Menu

Customize the title of the Customer Report:

Select View > Preferences from the menu.


Click on the Preferences tab.
Edit the title in the Customer Report Title field.
Click OK to save your changes.

Allows a dealership to use Service Report in a
language not provided by Caterpillar, or to
customize the text to meet local needs.
Change any text that appears on printed report,
using the language template editor.
Choose Edit -> Language Template

Prevents next PC user from closing an open report
without saving
Prevents inadvertent change of information in
Service Report
Allows completed report to be unlocked and
uploaded to DBS
Allows another person access to same Service
Report from another PC (if saved on network drive)
