Ayurvedic Acupressure

There is more to this world than we can see with our physical eyes. We are much more than our
physical bodies. We are surrounded by many layers of energy bodies collectively known as Aura.
We run on energy just as a car runs on petrol. Though the petrol is limited (and expensive!!),
energy is available to us 24x7 free of cost. We have energy running in our body through
pathways called energy meridians, just as the blood flows through blood vessels.
Any imbalance in our life and body is a result of an imbalance in the energy system. The socalled Modern Medical Science has only understood a bit about the physical body and systems
and has totally disregarded the metaphysical aspect (energy) and therefore its cure has not only
been
short
sighted
but
sometimes
extremely
complicated.
In my recent study of acupressure and acupuncture (without needles), I came across Ayurvedic
Acupressure, which is a very powerful system, which integrates the knowledge of ancient
science of Ayurveda and the principles of Acupressure. Ayurveda is composed of two words
Ayu + Ved. Ayu generally means the life span of a person, but according to Ayurveda, Ayu
is
the
union
of
Body,
senses,
mind
and
soul.
It deals with both the physical body and the metaphysical body (Aura and energy) to completely
heal
and
cure
physical,
mental,
emotional
and
spiritual
illnesses.
Acupressure/acupuncture is an ancient science and contrary to the common belief, it is an
ancient Indian science. It was and is still known as Marma Chikitsa in Ayurveda though not
many
people
are
aware
of
it.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

Ayurvedic Acupressure
Yogic Acupressure

These are just some of the forms. The scope and theories of each are a bit different but each
one of them is equally effective. Among these, I have found Ayurvedic Acupressure to be
extremely effective and simple.

Chinese

Medicine

According to TCM, there are 12 energy meridians in the body related to 12

vital organs Lungs, Large Intestine, Spleen, Stomach, Heart, Small intestine,
Kidney, Urinary Bladder, Spine, Brain, Liver and Gall Bladder. All the
meridians start and end on hands and feet. Most of the diseases can be cured

on
these
meridians.

Ayurvedic

Acupressure

According to Ayurvedic Acupressure, the cosmos and its correspondence

the human body, are composed of both physical and metaphysical forces.
These forces together form the basis of existence of every entity. To
understand these forces, let us look at some of their aspects.

Elements

Energy

Ayurvedic acupressure talks about 10 elements 5 physical and 5

metaphysical.
5 physical elements Space, Air, Fire, Water and Earth.
5 metaphysical elements Time, Direction, Mind, Soul and Tam (Origin).
Ayurvedic acupressure defines the body and the organs according to these 10
elements because it says that the mind has a very important role to play in our
life. The events and the physical body affect the mind and vice versa. The 5
metaphysical elements are parts of the brain like medulla, spine, pons,
cerebellum, cerebrum, limbic system and the core of the brain. Without these,
the
physical
body
cannot
function.
In Ayurvedic Acupressure, important points are located on the energy
meridians in the body. According to Ayurvedic philosophy, the body and its
internal organs have been established on the palm of the hands and soles of
the
feet
