Description: A webpage showcasing a logo I designed.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I originally started in Notepad for HTML coding and CSS coding. Before beginning this
project, I did have any prior experience with HTML or CSS. The CSS document was pre-made, and I added the Border-Style
code- in order to make the border doubled. I went through and changed the colors in the CSS document so that they would
coordinate with the logo. In order to find the colors with the logo, I opened Photoshop and used the eyedropper tool to select specific colors in the logo. I then copied the six-digit numbers and pasted them into the CSS code. I changed the fonts so
they would complement my logo. The fonts I used are considered web-safe, so they should be viewable on every computer and
browser.
Message: Frankies Ballroom is a high class, but down-to-earth place to learn social dancing.
Audience: My audience is for people of all ages that are interested in learning social dancing in a friendly
environment.
Top Thing Learned: The most valuable thing I learned was how to use CSS. HTML was very simple and straight-forward, but
CSS is great because I really got to personalize the design of my webpage.
Color scheme and color hex(s): Complimentary- Teal #00a69a and Red ##ce2027.
Title Font Families & Category: Geneva, serif; Modern
Copy Font Families & Category: Times New Roman, Georgia, sans-serif; Oldstyle
Changes made to the CSS: I changed the font families, as well as the colors of the type, borders, and backgrounds. I also
added the CSS code border-style to make the border doubled.

Description: Matching letterhead and business card with customized logo.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): For my design process, I started in Illustrator so I could make the various shapes that were in
my logo. I also had to make the embellishments that were a part of my business cards. When I designed the logo, I wanted to
keep with the black and white theme. Its supposed to look like the black and white swing dance shoes. I made the shoes freehand using the pen tool. I then took the vectorised images and brought them into InDesign and placed them where I wanted
them to be on the page. It took a lot of scaling to come up with a design I liked.
Message: The message for the business card is so people are interested in coming to the ballroom to learn dance.
Audience: People of all ages who are open and interested in learning ballroom and swing dancing.
Top Thing Learned: The top thing I learned was how to make logos and customize them based on the audience and message.

Description: Matching letterhead and business card with customized logo.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): For the letterhead, I took the same designs I made for the business card and resized them
to fit the page. I decided to change the opacity of the design. Text can be written over the different design elements and still be
seen. Finally, I added in the logo and the contact information to form the needed elements of a letterhead. The business card and
letterhead work together. Both can be used at the same time and complement each other.
Message: Simply to help people see that the letter is professional and from Frankies Ballroom.
Audience: People of all ages who are open and interested in learning ballroom and swing dancing.
Top Thing Learned: How to change the opacity so that text can be written over the design if needed.

Description: Three different logo designs for one company

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): My first process was sketching some ideas. It helped some, but ultimately my sketches
were pretty different than what I designed. The first logo took the longest to do, because I traced an image with the pen tool in
order to create the silhouette of the lead dancer dipping his follow. That took a lot of video tutorials to learn. I had to add a lot
of curvature to the bodies to create a more natural look. The second logo was fun to create. I looked at images of fedoras, and
then drew the fedora in Illustrator. I think the feather was a nice touch. The final logo is sort of 20s inspired. I wanted it to look
sort of Gatsby-ish, but more minimalistic. I used Adobe Illustrator for the entire design process.
Message: Frankies Ballroom is high-class, but inviting, exciting, and relevant to all age groups.
Audience: All ages with an interest in dance, particularly Swing.
Top Thing Learned: How to do an image trace in Illustrator.
Three Color Scheme and Color Names:
a. Split Complimentary- Teal, Orange, Red
b. Monochromatic- Red
c. Complimentary- Teal, Red
Three sets of Title / Body Font Names & Categories:
a. Title- Pristina Script Copy- MS Reference Sans Serif
b. Title- Copperplate Gothic Bold Modern
c. Title- Haettenschweiler Sans Serif
Votes on favorite logo:
Top Logo = 3 ; Middle Logo = 6 ; Bottom Logo = 6; My favorite logo is the middle logo.

Description: This is an event ad with full bleed along the top edge. The advertisement promotes a Charity Gala fundraiser.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): The entire ad was created using only a scanner in the Spori Lab and Microsoft Word 2013.
The image is from a textbook used in another Communication class. I scanned onto a computer. I then inserted it into Microsoft
Word 2013 and got to work. I mainly used square shapes as a background for the text. The colors behind the text can be found
in the photo on the left side. For the fonts, I chose some that seemed elegant, yet legible.
Message: This design is advertising a Charity Gala which serves as a fundraiser for the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. The
goal of the design was to make it look friendly and inviting.
Audience: My audience for this particular event is men and women 35 years and older. It is primarily geared to those who are
financially secure and willing to donate to the Navy-Marine Relief Society.
Color scheme and color names: The color scheme I used was Split Complimentary using Blue, Brick, and Gold (within the
picture).
Top Thing Learned: The top thing I learned was how to scan an image into a computer and re-size it.
Title Font Name & Category: Monotype Corsiva- Serifed Script
Copy Font Name & Category: Agency FB- Modern
Scanned images used, sources, original sizes, location of scanner used: The image I used of the dancers is from a
textbook Looking Out Looking In by Ronald B. Adler and Russell F. Proctor II (Comm 150 Textbook). The original size was
approximately 75, and the scanner was located in the Spori Lab.

Description: Promotional flier for a graduate conference done in grey scale.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): To design this flier, I began by sketching ideas onto paper with pencil. The next day, I
looked at the sketches Id done and chose the one that looked best to me. I opened InDesign and began to create a simple design
of my project. As I created it, I realized some elements of the design did not work when it was made digital. I moved around
text boxes, and aligned differently. I used the rectangle tool many times for this project. After I finished the first draft, it was
critiqued by friends, including a couple who major in Graphic Design. Their comments were helpful, and I made a few changes.
Message: The message of this design is to inform recent graduates of an upcoming conference that can help them develop skills
to have a competitive edge in business.
Audience: Recent graduates aged 22-30.
Top Thing Learned: Basic InDesign skills including how to create shapes, align, change contrast, etc.

Description: This project is meant to demonstrate good photography, editing, and photo design poster layout skills.
Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I started by choosing a specific color scheme. I then assembled the objects together and
photographed them. I used a basic point & shoot camera. I uploaded the photo into Photoshop and did some basic edits including vibrance, sharpening, and blurring. I then created a poster layout for the photo with the color scheme present in the photo.
The fonts I chose contrast in weight and serifs. The poster uses basic block designs.
Message: I wanted to add a message that went along with the beauty products in the photo. I chose What makes you different,
makes you beautiful in hopes that it will uplift readers.
Audience: Women of all ages
Top Thing Learned: I learned how to use Photoshop to add basic edits to photos that dramatically improve the look and focus
of the photo.
