RETIREMENTS

12/13 WTP District Competition at University of Nevada

This winter is a little different this year as we have 3 staff members retiring. Linda
Brady, our College and Career Center Facilitator, Jeanine Mortensen, our bookkeeper and SGM Ron Rillon from JROTC are three long-time Huskie staff members who will
be dearly missed. They have been a huge part of our school and we thank them for
their dedication, professionalism and service.

Goodbye Mr. Link Piazzo

In November the Reno community lost someone special. Mr. Link Piazzo was a community business leader, philanthropist, military veteran and one of the most generous
supporters of education our area has ever seen. If you spend anytime on the RHS
campus you will see his name emblazoned everywhere you look. He helped fund the
Alumni Museum along with multiple additions and improvements to our buildings
over the years. He also supported students with scholarship money. I only met him
once when I was an assistant principal. We had just unveiled our new basketball floor
with his signature stamped into the wood. He was enthusiastic, funny and kind. We
may never see another man like Mr. Piazzo. The Reno High School Community offers
its deepest condolences to the Piazzo family and he will be someone Reno High School
never forgets.

Yearbook
Yearbook price will include late fee after January 15, so please purchase your students
yearbook before that date. $95 now will guarantee a yearbook reserved for your student
when they are delivered in May. We do not
order extras (we order the number of books
pre-ordered by January 15), so there are very
few additional copies (from students withdrawing between now and spring) available in
May. If youd prefer to make payments, contact Jeanine Mortensen in the Finance Office
before school ends in December. Call 3335050 to set up a plan.

FINE ARTS:
Come one, Come all - Please join the RHS
Visual Arts Department in their 3rd Empty
Bowls Project! It takes place on Thursday,
Dec. 4; 5:30-7:30 in IA-4.
Empty Bowls is an international grassroots
effort to fight hunger and was created by
the The Imagine Render Group. The basic
premise is simple: Potters and other
craftspeople, educators and others (IN
THIS CASE RENO HIGH STUDENTS AND
WITH THEIR HELP, ABOUT 90 KIDS AT THE
BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB) work with the
community to create handcrafted
bowls. Guests are invited to a simple meal
of soup and bread (SOUP DONATED BY
WHOLE FOODS SUPERMARKET!). In exchange for a cash donation, guests are
asked to keep a bowl as a reminder of all
the empty bowls in the world. The money
raised is donted to an organization working
to end hunger and food insecurity (OUR
PROCEEDS WILL BENEFIT THE RENO
SPARKS GOSPEL MISSION FOOD PANTRY!)
