Cristiano Burani
BIOGRAPHY
Cristiano Burani was born on August 15th in Bologna, Italy. He attended
the University of Modena, and obtained a degree in Medicine. During his
studies, he began to dream about Fashion Design and earned a masters
degree in Operators in the Fashion Industry in 1994. In 1995, Burani got
a degree in Fashion Design at Parsons, The New School for Design in
New York City. In that same year, he started to work for La Perla until
1997. Later on, he became the head designer at Bluemarine until 2000. In
2001 he started to design for the Versace Jeans Couture and became the
Creative Director for the Versace Beachwear and Underwear. In 2006, he
went back to Bluemarine as the Creative Director. Burani became winner
of the Milan Fashion Incubator, an initiative to help and support young and
talented designers. Designers are chosen by a jury of professionals to
participate in a real fashion show that takes place during the Milan fashion
week. Thanks to the Incubator offered by Camera Nazionale della Moda,
Burani had the opportunity to create, produce, and present his own
collection. Within a short time, he decided to center his attention to create
his highly-recognized clothing line. He is known for his attention to
handmade details and luxurious textures. Burani has become respected
by Vogue Italys Franca Sozzani and devoted admirers.

BIOGRAPHY
Mara Carolina Josefina Pacanins Nio is born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1939. She was
introduced to the world of fashion by her grandmother. In 1952, she attends her first
Balenciaga show in Paris. Herrera marries Guillermo Behrens in 1957, whom she will later
divorce. The couple will have two daughters: Mercedes and Ana Luisa. In 1964, she works
for Alfa boutique as a publicist for Emilio Pucci. Years later, in 1968, she marries Reinaldo
Herrera. Her wedding dress was a yellow minidress with floral appliqus of her design. The
couple will have two daughters: Carolina and Patricia. By the time of 1972, Herrera
socializes with Mick and Bianca Jagger, Princess Margaret, and Andy Warhol. In that same
year, she makes first appearance on the International Best-Dressed list. In 1980, The
Herreras move to New York. Also, in that same year, Herrera is elected to the International
Best-Dressed Hall of Fame. Vogues Editor-in- Chief, Diana Vreeland, encouraged Herrera
to begin her career as a designer. Influenced by Vreeland, in a friends New York
apartment, Herrera sells a small collection of 24 dresses she had made in Caracas. In
1981, her first collection was presented and well-received; popularizing the padded
shoulder and puffy sleeves. Within a short time after that, she designs a gown for deb-ofthe-decade Cornelia Guests social debut. In 1986, Herrera designs the wedding dress for
Jacqueline Onassiss daughter, and becomes recognized. Also, powerful women such as
the American First Lady Nancy Reagan and Princess Diana began to wear Herreras
creations. In that same year, she launches diffusion line CH, Carolina Herrera Collection II,
and a fragrance line. In 2000, after 20 years in business, Herrera opens her first store,
located at Madison Avenue in Manhattan. The company will continue to expand around the
world.

BIOGRAPHY
Roberto Cavalli born in Florence, Italy in 1940. Inspired by his grandfather, Giuseppe
Rosi, who was a painter in the Impressionist style, Cavalli begins his studies at the
Academy of Art of Florence in 1957. At first, he wants to be a painter. Then, he chooses the
direction of textiles; from textiles he went to fashion. In 1960 he leaves school and creates
prints on knitwear for a friend. That same year, he starts his own company. Cavalli marries
Silvanella Gianonni, whom he will later divorce. The couple had two children: Christiana,
who became president of the company, and Tomasso. In 1970, Cavalli presents his first
collection, created by printing on leather. Two years later, he shows womenswear at the
Pitti Palace in Florence and opens a boutique in St. Tropez. In 1980, Cavalli marries Eva
Duringer, with whom he had three children and who will later become creative director of
the Roberto Cavalli line. Their daughter Rachele later became a bag designer for the
company. In 1993 he has the idea of printing designs on denim, which becomes the turning
point of the second part of his career. A year later, he returns to the Milan runway with his
fall show. Cavalli opens a boutique on Madison Avenue in New York in 1999. Also, the
company introduces eyewear and menswear. A year later, Cavalli Jeans, which was later
renamed Just Cavalli, debuts. In 2002, Cavalli clothes are framed in the Palazzo Vecchio,
and he is named Designer of the Year by the Fashion Group International. In that same
year, he is accused of evading taxes. Cavalli judges the Miss Universe contest in Panam
in 2003, and serves as Grand Marshall of the Columbus Day Parade in New York. In
December 2004, Cavalli sponsors the exhibition "Wild: Fashion Untamed" at the Met's
Costume Institute in New York. The Roberto Cavalli for H&M collaboration is launched in
2007. In 2008, he is cleared of tax charges by the Italian Supreme Court. In 2009, the
designer launches the Cavalli Card, a line for pets, and a made-to-measure service. Cavalli
celebrates 40 years in business in 2010. That same year, the company ranks number one
in women's fashion on the 2010 Luxury Brand Status Index "Best of Best".
