How to share the Gospel.

John 4:7–26 give us Christ’s example of how to share our

faith. Notice that Jesus spoke to the woman at the well when she was alone. We
will often find that people are more open and honest when they are alone. So, when
possible pick a person who is sitting by theirself. And when sharing there are
five clear principles to follow:
Step 1
Study and know the word of God. You certainly can't share the gospel if you
yourself don't know it. You need to read the scriptures, understand them, and have
a burning testimony of their truthfulness. The Holy Ghost will give you the desire
to know more and add to your zeal knowledge. Anyone baptized by belief in Jesus'
name already has the Holy Ghost. He will guide your words and thoughts as well as
blessing and adding to what you say. The Holy Ghost will often convict or burn
like a fire in the hearts of the hearers of the word of God. That is the time to
inform them that baptism in Jesus' name is required for salvation. Read Acts 2:1-
42.

Step 2
Obtain and develop true friendships. Though sharing the gospel with strangers can
sometimes build friendships, sharing the gospel is much more effective when you
have true friends that know you will remain their friends whether or not they
choose to accept the gospel. In addition, wanting to share the gospel with friends
shows them how important the gospel is to you.

Step 3
Be an example. Jesus was our perfect example and experienced all that people
normally would in their walk with God. It is very hard to tell someone to "do as I
say, not as I do." Live the gospel to the very best of your ability. Be an example
of service to your friends and neighbors, co-workers and colleagues. The true
gospel involves caring for others, and living in a righteous manner.

Step 4
Open your mouth. Though being an example is important, it is just as important to
start talking. Individuals may become interested in the gospel by how you live,
but one way or another you've got to start telling them about the gospel. Be sure
to share your deep feelings and belief about the gospel along with it's
truthfulness. Share your testimony whenever you get the chance. Be bold, as Satan
will always try to minimize your impact and God to enlarge your borders.

Step 5
Look for the Holy Spirit's presence and guidance. You can allow the Holy Spirit to
move through not only by your words, but through a song or prayer. It is the Holy
Spirit and not you that converts another person to the truth. Remember the words
of Paul told us all in Ephesians 6:10-20. "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the
Lord, and in the power of his might. "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may
be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh
and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the
darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore
take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the
evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt
about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet
shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of
faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And
take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of
God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching
thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that
utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the
mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may
speak boldly, as I ought to speak." Satan does not appreciate our attempts to
convert the lost. He isn't as incensed when we are praising God or fellow shipping
with other believers, because this doesn't really effect him. But when we witness
to the lost we are stepping into his territory. And sometimes, but not very often
at all, people will become angry with us (not really us, but the God within us and
his message) because they feel threatened, intimidation, or lost. Pray for them
prior to witnessing to them or have a fellow Christian do so if possible. Always
be prepared and avoid or walk away from any violent action. This has never
happened to me. Usually people will listen with respect if you give them respect.
If they accept the truth then that's great. If not, do not take it personally and
move on with your life. Our mission is to simply share the greatness of God and
never to force it upon another person. Give your best effort and then leave the
results to him.
