For this particular project I developed my own methodology to find design opportunities
I called this methodology opportunity node; it consists in a graphic relation between two variables
of a single theme supported by documented info. During this exercise, the main topic was HOME
and we were told to find a design opportunity in the medium class context of our country ( colombia ).
So a study was made in different sample houses and the common information was placed in these
two variables, the graphic was made and we found five possible opportunities and therefore five different
concepts came out, choosing a concept of virtual presence. In the sample families all of the individuals
were carrying different activities at a different time and the most common activity for them was dinner; in colombia
old families used to leave an almost ready food for the person who arrived late to finish, so this project works not
only as a simple food case but as a message board, making evidence in the distance of the family members
and the need of hanging around with your family members more often. This plate works as a window glass,
just leave your message with your fingers, and when the food gets warm again, the steam of it will show you a message.

A personal project in progress
this particular project was one of the many made during my internship at 3Dbranding in 2007. I was told to design a mini store for an adoption institution, this store is used to collect funds for this institution to keep working, so the concept
of this store was a gentle and funny look where I designed from the wall graphics to the furniture in it including the "eyed puff" i really enjoyed doing this piece because I knew it would help somehow these children and I found out
that a lot of people had a special interest on it, the manufacturer did a great job and finally the house-store was build.

Tumbaga ( Spanish word for gold and copper alloy during the conquer time in pre-Columbian
cultures ) This is a project for C2R engineering framed in a master plan for an ecological vehicle
in Colombia.
The brief was simple: we need a car with Colombian identity and a great look that would be able
to sell the idea of an electric car in a traditional combustion vehicles market.
the company already had the technology for this project so this was a matter of language. I started
looking for a concept based on the Colombian esthetic criteria, but this country is so full of foreign
language and traditions that we have forgotten our rich past, so I look behind and found the pure
esthetic language of this region: our pre-Columbian cultures.
The esthetic of this project is based on some particular pieces of antique gold handcrafting, taking
on highlights their shapes and their meaning paying special attention to their semiotics an gestures.
one particular feature on every piece of a pre-Columbian object is the expressivity of its lines, so
I incorporated some strong face look from a mask made by the Tumaco Culture in the head and
back lamps frame, this piece extends to the doors and when opened expresses literally a mask.
The idea of the door opening was inspired in another particular piece, a pendant from the San
Agustn Culture with a winged fish shape that gives elegance and showiness to the car.
Some functional features of this concepts are the back seat folding and the use of the air that
passes through the head lamps in a wind tunnel type that uses the wind strength focused
in this little tunnel to move little blades and collect some extra energy.

The front stroke demolisher is a part of my thesis project for Industrial Design Title named " Symbolic displacement of the object
to the contemporary music context " it was awarded with a Laureate thesis ( 5.0 ).
This work introduces the video clip as a design tool with a huge potential to real, imaginary or even prospective scenarios
approaching. In a same way the chance to print new objects with a coherent and innovator concept is there.
The project contributes the subject with a scheme that values the object from its symbolic essence and as a creation code research
being pertinent with the involved band, its musical influence and commercial intent. As a result, a video clip had been
proposed to a story board level which had considered a study object (Fockina band) a musical influence (Grunge)
and some particular referents to the video clip itself that manifests as a product which concept resumes the involved
principal characteristics and shows their intention
starting from a symbolical morpheme dictionary taken
from the structural parts of a bands chosen song
to guide the esthetic design process.
