Fertilizers are well mixed with the soil and then the soil mass is well
pulverized. Ridges & furrows are made on the soil for plantation of plantlets.
5. SAPLINGS/PLANTLETS:.
6. PLANTATION:
Plantlets are planted along the ridges prepared on the field with a distance of
30 cm between the plants, preferably in the afternoon. The distance between
ridges should be 45 cm. An acre of land will accommodate, approximately, 15
thousand plants.

N.B. -Soil testing for micro nutrient status before planting is always advised.
8.HARVESTING:
1. Marigold starts blooming after 30 to 35 days. The approximate yield
would be about 20 tons per acre per season through several plucking.
2. Flowers are to be plucked in the evening and packed in bamboo
baskets with wet newspaper linings for dispatch to the market next
morning.
3. The maximum yield will be during October to March. The yield will be
negligible during the summer though the market price will be very high.
Marigold can be forced grown during summer on adoption of
appropriate technology. During rainy season the yield will be about 25
% of the winter and spring season.
