EDUC ATIONAL OBJECTIVES

Describe the information that multidisciplinary physicians
seek from oncologic imaging studies
Review the basic principles of oncologic imaging and their
associated pitfalls
Examine the most effective methods for diagnosis, staging,
follow-up, and interventional therapies in a wide range of
cancers
Demonstrate the synergies that result from multidisciplinary
interactions in oncologic care
Summarize methods for improving the clinical relevance and
added value of oncologic imaging reports.

MSK PROGR A M DIRECTOR

David M. Panicek
MD FACR

Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs

Director, Educational Programs
Attending Radiologist
Body Imaging Service
Department of Radiology

I am a board-certified diagnostic radiologist with special

expertise in the care of patients
with bone tumors and soft-tissue
sarcomas.
As an integral member of the
Bone Tumor Disease Management Team, I collaborate closely
with orthopedic surgeons, medical oncologists, and pathologists
to optimize the accurate diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up
of patients with these rare and
often difficult-to-treat tumors.

My research interests cover a

wide range of topics in oncologic imaging, often evaluating the
effectiveness of various imaging
techniques used in the diagnosis
and care of patients with cancer.
I am currently studying MR imaging and CT scanning of bone
and soft-tissue tumors. I was the
lead investigator on the National
Cancer Institute/National Institutes of Health multi-institutional
project which compared CT and
MR imaging for the staging of
musculoskeletal cancers.

This course is comprised of lectures

and interactive audience participation
encouraging the intellectual exchange
of ideas between faculty and

It is the policy of MSK to make every

effort to insure balance, independence,
objectivity, and scientific rigor in all
continuing medical education activities
which it sponsors as an ACCME

commercial services which are discussed
by the faculty members in an educational
presentation. As required by the
ACCME, when an unlabeled use of a
commercial product or an investigational
use not yet approved for any purpose is
discussed during an educational activity,
MSK requires the speaker to disclose
that the product is not labeled for the
use under discussion or that the product
is still investigational.

EVALUATION

A course evaluation survey sent out

electronically will provide attendees with
the opportunity to review the sessions
and the speakers and to identify future
educational needs.
ACCREDITATION STATEMENT

MSK is accredited by the Accreditation

Council for Continuing Medical Education
(ACCME) to provide continuing medical
education for physicians.
AMA CREDIT DESIGNATION STATEMENT

MSK designates this live activity for a

maximum of 20.0 AMA PRA Category

credit commensurate with the extent of
their participation in the activity.
The AMA has determined that physicians
not licensed in the United States but who
participate in this CME activity are eligible
for 20.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

OUTCOMES MEASUREMENT SURVEY

Six months after the end of the course an

Outcomes Measurement Survey will be
sent to all participants to help us determine
what positive impacts have been made on
participant practice as a result of the course.
