Give thanks to the LORD, for he is

good, for his steadfast love

Art and Carol Clark

Working with World Team
in Indonesia (Papua).

We think it is important for us to keep mobile and exercise and that means
walking. No grandiose ideas of walking in a safe peaceful environment where one
can enjoy it. Drivers just don't care so the whole exercise is one of alertness and selfpreservation. Two weeks ago on one of Carols walks there was a pickup truck ahead
with a load of bread and buns. A couple of local fellows were helping themselves to
the produce when the guys in the cab got out and gave chase. As one of the thieves
approached Carol he pushed her with considerable force into the concrete ditch. She
was in shock lying in the bottom of the ditch wet, muddy and stinking of
excrement. Onlookers didn't move to help. Carol asked the truck driver to take her
home as she was in such a mess. He was not interested in having her in his truck but
Carol got in any way for the short ride home as she would have been quite a spectacle
walking on the main road. When she got inside our gate a Yali friend saw Carol but
did not recognize her. We are grateful that Carol did not break any bones or have
major injuries, the Lord is good!
Incidents of killings by the indigenous people are increasing. This is their way of
bringing about independence. But it is a futile endeavor and one cannot express that
opinion to them. In this context the expat community has not yet been victims but
folks are more aware of the potential of becoming pawns in the independence
movement. Do pray for protection.
The Bible School is coming close to the end of a semester. In a couple of weeks staff
and students will have a feast together to celebrate Christmas. It has been a profitable
semester.
Please pray as our visa comes up for renewal in February.
We are doing well and enjoying all the opportunities for reaching out to help people.
Don and Nate will be coming out to be with us for Christmas and New Year....what
could be better than that!
We do appreciate your prayers and financial support.
Our love to you, Art and Carol

The season of Advent means there is something on the

horizon the likes of which we have never seen
before. What is possible is to not see it, to miss it, to turn
just as it brushes past you. And you begin to grasp what it
was you missed, like Moses in the cleft of the rock,
watching Gods [back] fade in the distance. So stay. Sit.
Linger. Tarry. Ponder. Wait. Behold. Wonder. There will be
time enough for running. For rushing. For worrying. For
pushing. For now, stay. Wait. Something is on the horizon.

Just One Request

Dear Master for this coming year
Just one request I bring:
I do not pray for happiness,
Or any earthly thing
I do not ask to understand
The way Thou leadest me,
But this I ask: Teach me to do
The thing that pleaseth Thee.
I want to know Thy guiding voice,
To walk with Thee each day.
Dear Master make me swift to hear
And ready to obey.
And thus the year I now begin
A happy year will be
If I am seeking just to do
The thing that pleaseth Thee.
