1 Installation Process
Purpose
Use the tables below as a checklist when installing the system, to help you through the installation procedures. These tables contain all the
steps required for installation (planning, preparation, installation, and post-installation procedures). Use the references to the general
descriptions of activities and the additional information to obtain help about performing the activities. The help ensures that you do not
overlook important information.

Prerequisites
SAP recommends that you install SAP Easy Document Management as follows:

1.

Print out the tables below.

2.

Follow the sequence of installation procedures exactly as shown in the tables.

3.

If a step is necessary for your installation, read the note on this step in the relevant section.

4.

Carry out the instructions exactly as described in the note.

5.

Once you have completed the step, mark the corresponding entry in the table with to record the progress of your installation.

6.

Continue with the next step in the table.

7.

Ensure that the requirements for releases, Support Packages, and SAP Notes are fulfilled in the SAP system.

Preparation
Before you install SAP Easy Document Management, you must perform the following activities:

Process Flow

1.

Before you install SAP Easy Document Management, check whether your PC fulfills all the requirements.

2.

Install SAP Easy Document Management on every PC on which you want to use it.

3.

Start file setup.exe from the installation CD and follow the instructions in the dialog boxes.
Once open, SAP Easy Document Management automatically guides the user through the logon process.

1.2 Planning Installation


Requirements
The PC must fulfill the following requirements:

If you do not have either Microsoft Office or an SAP GUI, two dll files may be missing on your computer. SAP Easy Document
Management cannot be installed. The missing files and an installation guide (ReadMe.txt) are in the msredist folder. See also additional
notes about known problems and current version information in the ReadMe.txt file in the installation folder.

SAP System Settings


Before you can use SAP Easy Document Management, SAP Document Management must be fully configured. For more information, see the
Implementation Guide for Document Management in SAP and the SAP Library SAP Enterprise Application Components ? Cross-Application
Components ? Document Management. You can use this application with any SAP system.

Authorizations
Each user that is to work with SAP Easy Document Management needs the appropriate authorizations in the SAP system. For more
information, see Authorizations in SAP Easy Document Management, the Implementation Guide in the SAP system, and SAP Library
under SAP Enterprise Application Components ? Cross-Application Components ? Document Management ?Authorization Objects for
Documents.

Computer
Install SAP Easy Document Management on every PC on which you want to use it. You do not need an installation of SAP GUI on your PC.
However, each PC on which SAP Easy Document Management is installed must fulfill the software and hardware requirements shown
above.

Secure Storage Area for Original Application Files


You need a secure storage area for your original application files in document management in SAP. For more information, see SAP
Library SAP Enterprise Application Components ? Cross-Application Components ? Document Management and the Implementation Guide
for Document Management.

1.3 Installation and Test


Installation
To install SAP Easy Document Management, proceed as follows:

1.

Close all programs that are running.

2.

Start setup.exe from the installation CD.

Installation Test
You can test your SAP Easy Document Management installation to check whether installation was successful.

Activities
To test the installation, proceed as follows:

1.

Start the program SAP Easy Document Management from the Microsoft Windows Explorer.

Log on to the SAP system in which you want to work.

If SAP Easy Document Management is open, insert a new document by choosing (New Document) from the toolbar.
On the left-hand side of the application window, the folder structure is displayed, and on the right-hand side you see the details of the
subordinate folders and documents in the folders. If the new document is also displayed in your SAP system, the installation was successful.

Resume an Interrupted Installation


If you canceled or interrupted the installation process, and then want to resume the installation, start setup.exe again

Purpose
When you open SAP Easy Document Management in Microsoft Windows Explorer, a connection is set up to the SAP system across the SAP
Easy Document Management interface.
Whenever you call SAP Easy Document Management in Microsoft Windows Explorer, the layout of the toolbar changes. The icons for SAP
Easy Document Management are inserted in the toolbar.
Digital signatures as part of an approval process ensure that predefined processes are adhered to. Only authorized users can enter a digital
signature in status maintenance for a document info record.

When a user logs on to SAP Easy Document Management for the first time, the system asks this user to create a Public Folder. The system
creates a folder with the document number EDIPUBLICROOTFOLDER.

When this user logs on to SAP Easy Document Management for the first time, the system asks the user to create a Private Folder. The
system creates a folder with the document number <User name>.

Prerequisites
You have installed SAP Easy Document Management (see Installing SAP Easy Document Management).

You have made the settings in Customizing for Document Management (CA-DMS).

Features
You can enter the following connection parameters in the logon dialog:

SAP System with Client


Once you have called SAP Easy Document Management, you can use the SAP icon to log off from the SAP system and log on again.

User with Password


If you do not want to enter your password each time you log on, select Save Password.
The system saves the password encoded in the registry under User Settings. It is still possible for system administrators to read these
passwords.

We recommend that you do not save passwords for security reasons!

Logon Language
Determines the language of the SAP Easy Document Management user interface.

Automatic Logon
This indicator hides the connection dialog the next time you log on. You can interrupt the automatic logon with SHIFT + CTRL.
You can deactivate automatic logon by choosing Preferences System and deselecting the Logon to SAP Automatically indicator.

You can configure new systems by choosing the ".." (SAP Destinations) pushbutton.
Work Offline
If you have loaded data for editing offline, you can access it by choosing Work Offline. The system displays the offline folder.

You can end the connection to the SAP system as follows:

In the context menu of the SAP Easy Document Management folder

There are three ways to start SAP Easy Document Management:


On your detop in Microsoft Windows Explorer, choose the folder SAP Easy Document Management.
Choose Save As in a Microsoft Office application, and navigate on your desktop to SAP Easy Document Management.
Choose the SAP Easy Document Management icon on the desktop.
Then you enter your logon data.
The logon language determines the language of the user interface.

If you do not want to enter your password each time you log on, select Save Password.
If you want to change your password, select Change Password and enter the new password twice in the dialog box.
If you want to hide the logon window the next time you log on, select the Logon Automatically Next Time indicator. The system copies the
logon data from the last logon. No other entries are necessary.

Choose Log On.
