Yet, one thing diminished his initial joy from his awakening. His
originally yellowish coat instantly turned red as he saw the moon, his most
extreme rival on the seat of the throne over the whole sky. Angered at her
insubordination, he immediately sent out armies of sunlight, to combat against
the last vestiges of darkness that still remained on the sky despite his obvious
comeback.
The clouds took on shades of red, orange and yellow accordingly after the
sunlight penetrated through them like soft fluffy cotton. Like a reflection of the
sun, they changed colours according to the sun. Right then, he was not happy,
for the moon not only stole what was rightfully his to rule, but also is most
valued possession- his light. As anger simmered and boiled inside him, he not
only sent out waves of sunlight, but also heat was included as rage gripped him
mercilessly.
The residents of the land remain completely oblivious to what that
transpired. Some woke up and get ready for their nutritional breakfast as the
first meal of the day. Others, who ventured from their homes, could not help but
feel awestruck at this marvelous exchange of nature as the two most powerful
forces of nature collided and produced amazing visual effects on the sky. The
remaining dark hues fought against the brilliant explosion of bright coloration
that seemed to be centered on the magnificent sun as his undoubtedly powerful
sunlight smote each dark areas like angels fighting for heaven against the last
resistances. Yet, most still lie on the bed, completely unaware of the spectacular
battle over the reign of the skies.
With each step made, more battles are won by him. The moon, who was
once the center of attention, knew she would be made indistinct by his
undeniable, palpable aura, sought to stop him from stealing the attention.
Futilely, she threw a veil of mist around him and prepared to make a backup
plan if her plans go wrong. The sun, laughed at her crude attempt to diminish
his radiance. His servants already stripped the sky of the taint of darkness,
revealing the light but pleasant shade of blue that appeals to anyones eye.
Clouds were given a cleansing bath of sunlight therapy, removing the greyish
appearance to show its true inner self, fluffy cotton patches that drift on the
skies and provide interesting shapes for any imaginative mind. Some has
already taken the shape of a bird in flight, some looked like artistic brushstrokes
technique by a master painter on the sky as adornment.
The starlight, too far away to make a difference, was swallowed by the
more dominant sunshine and pleasant blue backdrop. As for the moon, she
slipped away from the throne, choosing to hide itself away from the wrath of the
sun and eluding herself from the vigilant gaze of the sun.
With a dismissive wave, the sun dispelled the ethereal mist without much
effort, as it is essentially damp air. His bright figure once again shone brightly
and warmly to all directions. Slowly, but resolutely, he resumed his pace to the
throne, and began his task of illuminating the earth.
Yellow, golden drops of sunshine pierced through the thick clouds. The
morning dew, accumulated from the cold night before, evaporates and merges
with the clouds above. The earth received the warmth gladly, having chilled
from the night before, as flowers bloomed with the gentle coaxing of sunlight.
The river streams sparkled as sunlight reflected on its mirror-like surface. All
colours seemed to amplify under the bath of the warm yellow sunlight.
More and more people were getting active at that time of day. People of
all sizes, age and figures went out of their restrictive homes to the outside world.
They seem to appreciate the warmth and the light that was freely given by the
sun. All this was noticed by him, and his heart swelled with pride as he could
give so much to help. His originally fiery red faded to a bright gold, gold with
pride of what he had contributed.
Shafts of sunlight also pierced through windows, sometimes getting to
assault the faces of the unsuspecting victims as the sun struggled to wake these
people up. His slow crawl to the throne also enabled him to find such simplistic
pleasures, such as waking up a person through his light and heat, or even
watching how a curious group of people interacts socially, or even spending
some time watching his most avid follower, the sunflower.
With a last glance towards the earth, he continued his measured pace,
slowly, steadily and firmly, as the eye of the heaven, proudly, regally, ascended
the steps that would bring him to where he rightfully belonged his high throne
at the very top of the sky-dome, where he can rule over all his subjects wisely
and skillfully.
