ASWSUV Public Relations Director

Responsibility: The Public Relations Director shall create and maintain a positive image
of ASWSUV to students, faculty, administration, and the community. The
Public Relations Director will creatively and innovatively publicize
ASWSUV events, programs, and activities in various media forms. The
Public Relations Director will manage the Event Assistant in tandem with
the Activities Director and the President.

Duties: The Public Relations Director shall have and exercise the following
powers and duties:

A. Perform duties in accordance with the Constitution and By-laws.


B. Work within current budget to creatively publicize upcoming events in mediums such
as, but not limited to:
1. Flyers
2. Sandwich Boards
3. Online Networks
C. Effectively and frequently communicate with the Activities Director, Event Assistant,
and Activities Board to ensure all events receive necessary publicity.
D. Manage and coordinate the Event Assistant in publicizing at least two (2) events per
month.
E. Produce a monthly ASWSUV newsletter.
F. Assist Senators and Committees to publicize committee events, programs, and
activities.
G. Coordinate tabling efforts with the Senate and Executive Staff.
H. Help maintain and increase ASWSUV presence through online networking.
I. Work with IT Assistant to maintain ASWSUV website.
J. Provide press releases to the VanCougar and other media sources.
K. Negotiate contract with the VanCougar for advertisement purposes.
L. Provide a bi-weekly report to Senate regarding Executive Staff activities.
M. Assist the Director of Legislative Affairs in publicizing current legislative interests.
N. Assist the Leadership Development Director in advertising leadership conferences.
O. Expand, manage, and utilize ASWSUV student email list

P. Perform any duties deemed necessary by the ASWSUV President.
Requirements: The Public Relations Director must be member of ASWSUV and be
enrolled in at least six (6) credits per semester during the regular academic
year. S/he must be in good academic standing, maintaining no less than a
2.0 GPA.

Media design experience
Artistic and creative
Developed knowledge of ASWSUV
Basic website maintenance skills
Ability to work within a team

Work Conditions: Frequent interruptions, some noise

Term: The Public Relations Director shall hold office from commencement to commencement
or until his/her duly elected successor takes office.

Salary: In accordance with ASWSUV By-Law (330.02), the salary for the Public
Relations Director will be fifty percent (50%) of the President’s salary,
thus eight thousand dollars ($8000) for the entire year.

Hours: The Public Relations Director shall contribute at least fifteen (15) hours
each week to his/her duties. Posted office hours shall be fifteen (15) hours
per week until commencement.
