They Still

got
game...

... and then some.
Welcome to the Hinsdale
Raiders
Belly
Bump
tourney, tipping off this
Thursday, January 1st, 2015,
and concluding on Friday,
January 2nd, 2015, with the
title game at 6:30 p.m.
Folks, its a whole lotta
hoops happening within the
Hinsdale school gymnasium
featuring some alumni that
earned our Eastern 3C some
high credibility including the
1988 State C championship.
But the Belly Bump goes
back way before that.
Giving the credit to the
man well deserved was the
name Kurt Rosendahl, who
bellied up the Bump back
in 1978 bellying up to the
bar, looking at all those beer
bellies of former Raiders
athletes as a way to help offset
the cost of the 4th of July
fireworks display.
He was sitting at the
bar, looking at all the bellies,
making small talk, and
it started it all, said Levi
Capdeville, a 2006 graduate

Could this be Mark Arnold, one of the superstars of the 1988 State C Champion
Hinsdale Raiders, about to put a deuce for his Belly Bump team, contested by Allyson
Riden? Yeah, despite a couple of gray hairs, he still got it. (In the background are
King Dennis Boucher and Lloyd Jones to identify a couple of the fans). Hey, if you
would like to see some great hoops, Hinsdale is the ultimate hot spot. And while in
beautiful downtown Hinsdale, tell Stoughie that the Buzz says, Howdy-do.

of Hinsdale High.
The Hinsdale Belly Bump was a popular event for
numerous years, but unfortunately the ball went out of
bounds. Finally some younger Raiders guns, Capdeville
and Nate Remmich (Hinsdale High School 2008),
decided to do an in-bound pass on the situation in 2013.
It all started as a quick text message, Capdeville
said with a laugh, then it all rolled from there.
Theres no shortage of pretty young things helping
them out, either. I mean, what event could go smoothly
without some women in charge?!?
So while its not officially an annual event due to
those years when the ball was dropped, the Hinsdale
Alumni Belly Bump is definitely back, in its second year
running after a few-year hiatus.
The Oldest Player Trophy went to Gary Porter,
mentioned Capdeville, adding, he also contributed to
everyone having a really good time afterwards.
Okay, now for the schedule of this festive way to
break into the New Year featuring two gals teams and
six mens teams its like this:
First game, Thursday, January 1st, 2015 at 4:00.
Fridays games begin at 8:50 a.m. and with the schedule
going as planned, the championship will be held at 6:30
that evening.
Last years championship wing-dingers were
comprised of talent from the mid 90s, but it sounds like
some pride-and-soul ringers are coming in this year.

Belly Bump? Hope to see you in Hinsdale, Montana.
And also Dont forget, there will be an 80s party
following the Belly Bump January 2nd, (so get the wild
shirt going on there.)
Then, on Saturday, comes possibly one of the most
pivotal games in the District 3C as the Raiders clash with
the Panthers of Saco (and Whitewater). This is going to
be one seriously good game.
